Hi everyone,
In the coming days you'll be released your COMP1010 grades.
Those of you who received a mark greater than or equal to 50%, with a UF grade, this means that you got an otherwise passing grade, but did not pass the exam. The exam is a hurdle requirement of the course, so this means at this point you have not passed COMP1010. If you are in this category, and would like to attempt to achieve a passing grade in COMP1010, this is how it will work:
course_mark = (original_course_mark - 50)/2 + 50
If you have any questions, feel free to contact us via a private post on the forum or via e-mail (cs1010@cse.unsw.edu.au).
I hope you all have a wonderful holidays.
Sim.

Hi everyone,
Tomorrow, during our usual lecture time I'll do some extra examples and I'll be available to answer any questions you have.
It will be online via our usual zoom lecture link.
No new content will be introduced (if we do stumble across content we haven't yet covered, a recording will be provided and it will be clearly communicated in week 7).
Looking forward to seeing some of you there :)
Sim.

Hi everyone,
This coming Monday 7th October is a public holiday. As such there is no lecture on that day. I will hold a catch-up lecture, online only (via the usual Zoom Lecture Link), on Wednesday 9th October 10am-12pm.
Students in Maddy's Monday tutorial and lab should check in with her about scheduling a time to catch up the tutorial and lab work for week 5.
Enjoy your long weekend, and I'll see you next Wednesday, online, for our lecture.
Cheers,
Sim.
Hi everyone,
The lecture recordings are now available on YouTube (usually uploaded by the end of the day on which the lecture occurs).
A playlist with all the lectures can be found here .
Cheers,
Sim.
Hello everyone!
Welcome to COMP1010 for 24T3 :)
The course website is now up and running and is slowly getting filled in with information for the course (lecture content, assessment tasks, extra resources). It can be found here: COMP1010 Course Homepage . I highly recommend you bookmark this page as you will be using it often this term.
On Monday at 11am we have our first lecture . For those of you joining us face-to-face we will meet in Tyree Energy Technology LG03 (K-H6-LG03). For those of you joining us online, (assuming no technical difficulties), you can join us in the Zoom Lecture Link . Alternatively, I believe, you can watch the lecture through LiveStream on Echo360.
On Thursday at 10am our lecture will be held at E19 Patricia O'Shane G05 (K-E19-G05) with the same online options as Monday.
I hope to also write our first computer programs in Python and start learning some course content.
Between now and then, please join the course forum using this link: https://edstem.org/au/join/EeBm8y . The forum is a place where you can ask questions (both publicly and privately) at any point in the course. I highly recommend you bookmark this page too.
If you're feeling super keen and would like to get your brain warmed up before Monday, I recommend doing the reading and activities in the following links:
I'm looking forward to meeting you all on Monday.
Cheers,
Sim Mautner
