  • COMP1911 Mark Finalisation + Bridging Course

Posted by Dylan Brotherston 🕴️ Saturday 27 August 2022, 03:44:13 AM.

    Marks

We have finished marking all assessments and the marks are now available on the WebCMS grades page .

Your page should look something like the following:

Your final mark for the course can be calculated fairly easily from this information (UNSW doesn't allow us to do that for you).
The marks given are all raw marks (after any deductions from late penalties).
There may be scaling applied to your official final mark.

Official final marks are release by UNSW on the 1st of September.

If you believe that there is an error with your marks please email <cs1911@cse.unsw.edu.au> before midday Sunday 28th.
Note that being one or two marks away from passing the course isn't a valid reason for us to investigate your marks and we will only adjust marks if there is a legitimate error with the given mark.

    Bridging Course

The COMP1911 Bridging Course provides equivalent competency to that of COMP1511.
That is, compleating the Bridging Course allows you to enroll in subject that have COMP1511 as a prerequisite.

The Bridging Course is free, and is intended for people intending in completing a software degree.

The Bridging Course will run from the 5th to the 10th of September (including Saturday 10th).

If you are interested in completing the Bridging Course please fill in this form https://forms.gle/YtZBUCiz7Rp5o21b8
You must fill in the form before midday Saturday 3rd of September.

The only requirement for enrolling in the Bridging Course is passing COMP1911.

You have 20 minutes to complete the quiz, after 20 minutes or at 5 PM the quiz will automatically submit. So make sure you start the quiz no later than 4:40 PM or your time will be cut short.

HERE is the link to the Moodle quiz, available after 2 PM.

Posted by Dylan Brotherston 🕴️ Tuesday 02 August 2022, 05:53:33 PM, last modified Wednesday 03 August 2022, 09:44:34 AM.

This week is our final teaching week and our final lab classes.

That means that there is no lab11 that can be used to demo your lab10 work.

Posted by Binghao Li Monday 27 June 2022, 03:42:09 PM.

    Dear all,

This week we will discuss pointers and memory. In my opinion, pointers are the most interesting topic in C. Understanding pointers is an essential step to mastering the C language. In the previous lectures, we left a few questions unanswered. Once we introduce the pointers, those things will be clear.

On Wednesday, I will run a Kahoot with ten quizzes, and you will have a chance to win a coffee voucher and a coffee cup.

I look forward to seeing you online.

  • Welcome to COMP1911 2022

Posted by Binghao Li Wednesday 25 May 2022, 11:53:51 PM.

    Hi everyone,

Welcome to the 22T2 edition of COMP1911.

First of all, I'd like to introduce myself. My name is Binghao Li, the lecturer for this course.

Due to the pandemic, we had run the course entirely online in the past two years. Fortunately, we will have face-to-face tutorials and lab sessions this year. We will also keep one online class (tutorial and lab) for offshore students.

You will learn C programming in this course. C is one of the most widely used programming languages. I learned Basic, Fortran, C and assembly language when I was a kid. I have not touched three of them for a long time, but I am still using C (not just for teaching). I believe you will also find C very useful.

I want to draw your attention to a few essential things:

    • The course website is https://webcms3.cse.unsw.edu.au/COMP1911/22T2/. We still have a Moodle page that is only used for BlackBoard and quizzes.
    • The platform we will use to deliver the course is MS Teams. You should find yourself in Teams class - "2022 T2 COMP1911 Lectures" now. The Teams meeting will be used for lectures on Tue 1400-1600; Wed 1100-1300.
    • The course outline and timetable are now available. You can access it by going to the course website.

I look forward to seeing you soon.
