Hi all,
Apologies for the double update for supp exam dates. Due to changes to graduation dates this year, we will be running the supplementary exam during the regular supplementary period, which is the
5th of January to the 9th of January
. If you have received an outcome from special considerations regarding a supplementary exam, the date range is correct there.
Again, apologies for the incorrect notice last week.
Best of luck with the exam!
Tomorrow (Wednesday), 11am-1pm I'm holding a revision and study session in K17, ground floor, room G05.
I'll also be teaching primarily to the people in the room but will have my laptop open on zoom so people can watch live via that stream. Zoom link here
The format will be live, Q&A style, attempting to answer the most in-demand questions.
I look forward to seeing lots of you there :)
Hi everyone,
This Wednesday, 11am-1pm I will be running a revision study group.
To know how big a room I should book, I need to know approximate numbers. Please let me know if you'll be attending here , and I'll announce the location on Tuesday night.
Happy studying!!
Sim.
Hi everyone,
Please fill out this form so I know what topics/questions are most valued by you for Wednesday's lecture. Please do this by 2pm on Tuesday if possible to give me time to prepare, though I'll likely check back on Tuesday evening and even Wednesday morning too. I aim to announce the topics being covered on Tuesday evening.
Each point asks for a rank from 1 to 5. I'll add up all the points for each question, and the questions with the highest scores will get priority.
For example:
Q1: 10 people vote 4 --> 40 points
Q2: 5 people vote 5 and 5 people vote 1 --> 30 points
In this situation, Q1 will be given priority over Q2.
Hi everyone,
Please be advised of an important correction to the slides for today's lecture.
The supplementary exam will take place between Monday 9th February and Friday 13th February (during O-Week of term 1), not between 5th January and 9th January.
If you are approved for a supplementary exam, please make sure you are available between Monday 9th February and Friday 13th February.
Hi everyone,
The content which will be provided in Wednesday's lecture will be by student request. I endeavour to get to steps 2 and 3 below, but I'm not promising.
The process is:** Broad, or unclear questions and requests will not be included. Please be as specific as possible.
The deadline for Lab07 has been extended to 5pm today due to the outage last night.
Hi everyone,
Assignment 1 automarking has been released! Please check the pinned forum post for more details.
Hi everyone,
We've now released some exam information - it can be found in the left-hand navigation panel on the course website. It contains the Exam Information , as well as a Sample Exam and some Past Exams .
Cheers,
Sim.

Initially the link was incorrect. I believe it's working now. Please refresh your Lectures Page, and click on the video for today.
Hi everyone,
This coming Monday is a public holiday. We still have just as much content to cover. This Monday (week 4, 6th October) I will do our lecture at the usual time (2pm-4pm) via Zoom , and upload the recording to our lectures page and usual YouTube playlist.
Also, no revision lecture this week.
Have a great rest of the week and weekend!!
Sim.
Due to the high number of students indicating they'll attend today's consultation in person, I've booked a larger room. We will use K17 Level 1 Room 113.
For those of you joining us over Zoom, the details remain unchanged.
1pm-2:30pm today.
Hi everyone,
Following the poll earlier this evening, I'm going to run two, shorter, lectures this week.
Thursday 25th 12pm-1:30pm (aiming for maximum number of students who can attend 12pm-1pm, but we can keep going if people have the energy)
Friday 26th 11am-12:30pm
During each time slot, I'll prioritise the questions of the students in attendance.
Hi everyone,
I want to maximise attendance to the revision lecture, so vote here for the time that's best for you.
Please only vote if you intend to attend live.
The lecture will be recorded and released for those who can't make it.
Day and Time of Week 2 Revision Lecture
Cheers,
Sim.
You'll notice on the right-hand side of the course website homepage , a heading `Upcoming Due Dates'. In that list, I will keep a poll up where students can select which topic(s) they would like the next week's revision lecture to cover. Please check that regularly and, if you'd like a revision lecture, indicate which topic(s) you'd find the most useful.
I call these lectures only because I run them, they're recorded, and they're made available to all students. If small groups of students turn up, it may feel more like a tutorial class or consultation where I respond more closely to individual student questions.
