How to use the Remote Bridge extension for VSCode

1. Click on Extensions in the VSCode sidebar, search for Remote Bridge, and install the extension.

2. Click on the Remote Bridge extension in the sidebar and click Add Connection.

3. Enter these details:

• Connection Name: cse (or any name of your choice)
• Host: loginX.cse.unsw.edu.au (where X is the last digit of your zID)
  • For example, if your zID is z5555555, enter login5.cse.unsw.edu.au
• Username: your zID
• Authentication Method: Password
• Password: your zPass

4. Click the Detect button. If you've done the above correctly, your home directory should appear in the Remote Path box.

5. Click the Save button at the bottom of the page.

6. The connection you created should now be listed in the Remote Bridge panel on the left. Click the Connect button on that connection.

The VSCode window will reload and you will be able to see the files in your CSE account in the file explorer on the left.

7. To open a terminal, click on the Remote Bridge extension in the sidebar again and click the Open SSH Terminal button on the connection.
