You can use the Give command to retrieve your marks.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
There are no lectures this week so you can focus on your assignment.
The next lecture will be run in Microsoft Teams in Week 10.
The assignment is available on the Assignments page.
There are no tutorials next week to allow you more time to work on the assignment.
Just a reminder ...
You need to submit all files created by your ISE project, not just the source code of your HDL model.
You can remove the waveform files in the folder if your zip file exceeds the limit.
The deadline for project part 1 has been postponed to 8pm, Friday, April 10. Accordingly the next lab (lab 4), originally designed for Week 8, has been cancelled to allow you more time to work on the project. <o:p></o:p>
Dear Class,
As you know, the Faculty of Engineering has advised us that most CSE courses should change
their grading basis to a simple pass / fail grading system. In response to this advice, there are following assessment changes to the Computer Architecture Course:
<u>Initial assessment distributions: </u>
Midterm exam: 20%
Tutorials:5%
Labs:10%
Assignment (group design project):25%
Final Exam:40%
<u>New assessment distributions:</u>
Midterm exam0%
Tutorials10%
Labs15%
Assignment (group design project)25%
Final exam (take-home project design)50%
In brief, there are no normal exams in this term. The initial two-hour closed book final exam will be replaced by a take-home project design, done individually. The project specification will be released on Monday Week 9 and the submission to SMS is closed on Monday Week 10.
Because of these changes, we don’t have enough time to accommodate further group project. The current project part 1 serves as a whole group project and counts for 25% of your final results.
You will pass the course if you earn 50 or more marks out of 100.
Please let me know if you have any concerns by next Monday (the deadline given by school).
Hope you enjoy learning without taking too much pressure in this unprecedented difficult time.
When you come to the Echo360 recording page in Moodle, ignore the entries automatically generated for the normal Echo recording and scroll down to the bottom of the list to find ones I posted.
I have uploaded the lecture recording files. You can now access them as before in Moodle.
Similar to lab 3, you now only need to submit your ISE project for project part 1. Each group needs to submit one copy of your work to SMS using the following GIVE command:
give cs3211 proj_part1 “your_file.zip”
Your submission also includes one-page short report that includes:
1.What have been achieved in your project design, and
2.Each member’s contribution (in percentage) to the project.
Deadline: 8pm, Friday, April 3<o:p></o:p>
The project part 1 assessment guide is available on the Assignments page.
The midterm exam is cancelled.
The tutorial and lecture will go online next week. Currently, let us try Microsoft Teams for tutorial classes. I will make the lecture recordings available before each lecture.
For the lab 3 demonstration, now you only need to submit your work in the format of ISE project. Specifically, zip all files in your ISE project folder and submit the zip file using the following give command:
give cs3211 lab3 “your_lab3_filename.zip”
If your file exceeds the limit, you can remove the waveform files from the project folder.
The deadline is next Friday, 27/03. Your work will be assessed based on the completion of your work and the readability of your source code.
For other assessments, I will update you in due course.
Like some other courses, ComArch has a number of on-campus assessments, such as invigilated exams, lab demonstrations. School is now working on it to produce a general guideline. Once the guideline is available, I will update you on the changes made for this course, including the midterm exam, lab demonstrations.
Just keep you updated... We are preparing to roll out teaching online.
There are no lectures, labs, and tutorials this week. At this stage, they are postponed to next week (Week 6).
Based on the advice from the school, the midterm exam is postponed one week -- to Wednesday Week 6.
Other updates will follow soon.
For consultation today please contact Sajid. He is available in K17-508, from 3pm to 5pm.
