  • End of Week-7 Message

Posted by Mahbub Hassan Friday 28 October 2022, 09:13:47 PM.

    Week-7 is behind us!

It was a busy week. We had our mid-term exam on Monday and the results were announced on Wednesday. The Inspera exam was opened for students to review their attempts along with the correct answers. We then continued (and are continuing) to discuss the questions and solutions for the rest of the week.

It's a good time to remind everyone that the assignment deadline, 11 November, is looming. You must get into it with all force if not already done so. Avail the special assignment consultations as you need. I expect everyone to submit their assignments on time.

We started looking into the Network layer during the Wednesday's lecture and hope to continue this important layer next week.

The next big exam will be the final exam. The provisional timetable is out which suggests that the final exam will take place in the morning of 28th of November . I shall post more details about the final exam on Week-9.

This is already Friday evening. Have a great weekend!

Also, trying to make the results available via alternate platform, such as WebCMS. Shall announce them here as soon as these are fixed. Please bear with me. Thanks for your patience.

We have completed Week-1 and covered most of the Introduction to Computer networks in the lectures. There were no labs to attend in Week-1.

In the Week-2 lectures, we will wrap up our introduction to computer networks (protocol layers) and dive into networked applications (principles, Web/HTTP, Email). Lecture slides for Week-2 are already available for review in WebCMS.

Labs will commence in Week-2. Please attend the lab class in which you have enrolled as many classes are at full capacity. You are strongly urged to set up access to the VLAB environment prior to the lab . It is not an efficient use of your tutor's time if they have to explain this process to you during the lab. You are strongly urged to read the Tools of the Trade introductory lab prior to the first lab. The first lab report is due by 10 am Tuesday 27 September (Week 3). Submission instructions are in the lab specification.

A number of problem-solving questions are accessible on the Homework Questions page. You are strongly encouraged to work through these questions on your own. These are not assessed. Answers to the collated questions (e.g. Introduction Questions) are posted. However, the questions marked with " Students to Discuss Solutions " are exclusively left for you to work on. We are happy to provide feedback on your attempts, but we will not provide ready solutions. Working through these questions will provide good practice for the exams. Please discuss them on the Ed forum. You can join the forum, if you have not already, via the following link: https://edstem.org/au/join/pMrZE7

My consultations are scheduled for Wednesdays 9:00-10:00 am (Sydney time) every week. A link to the Zoom meeting for the consultations is on the course outline page (its the same Zoom link used for the lectures).
