Please go through the details of the midterm exam here. The exam will run between 2:15 pm and 3:30 pm 27th October 2025 and there will be no class today. ELS students will have their finish time adjusted accordingly. If you experience any issues, please contact us via the Teams meeting room. ELS students, note that the Teams room will be active only between 2:15 pm to 3:30 pm.
A word of caution. The sample midterm showed a high number of similarity flags in Inspera, largely due to the use of Internet sources and GenAI tools. Please refrain from using these and adhere to the UNSW Student Code of Conduct. Any such occurrence during the midterm will receive a mark of zero and will be subject to further investigation for academic misconduct.

In Week 7, we have programming tutorial to help you get started with the programming assignment. Please review the tutorial specifications before attending to the session.
We will extend the Pingclient from Lab 2 to support additional features, some of which may directly carry over to the assignment. The tutorial will have separate slots for Python, C, and Java. This will be recorded as well.
Note that this tutorial is not graded or requires no code submission. Starter code is available for you to practice. Sample solutions will be made available by the end of week 7.

Welcome to Week 5. We have the following updates:
1. Lectures: We will explore the TCP protocol this week
2. Tutorial: This week, we will have Tutorial No 1. This is scheduled in the regular lab slots. This tutorial will help in preparing for the upcoming midterm exam.
3. Mid-term exam: The midterm exam is scheduled for 27th October between 2:15 pm and 3:30 pm. A sample midterm exam will be made available on Inspera. This sample exam will remain open between 20/10/25 12:00 Hrs and 25/10/25 midnight. You can only attempt the exam once, and the duration is 75 minutes.
4. Assignment. Note the assignment help sessions scheduled for Week 5. In Week 7, we will have an Assignment consultation session.
5. Labs: Labs will commence again in Week 7.
