The link to the final exam is now available through Moodle. The start time for the exam is 1 pm except for students sitting in Colombo LG01 (students also taking COMP9312).
Login to myUNSW, access Moodle, and reach the final exam SEB on Inspera where it will ask for the SEB password. You will be provided the SEB password in the exam rooms.
If you face any issue with SEB during the exam, stay calm and just raise your hand to seek assistance.
Remember to submit the exam within the stipulated time.
Best of luck, I hope that you have enjoyed the course.
[Please note that this notice is only for students who have not yet handed over the device kits]
We have noticed that some of you have not yet returned the equipment kit you borrowed.
The last consultation session with Dr. Nadeem will take place on Tuesday from 12-1pm. Please make sure you return the equipment to him on that day. Once you hand over the equipment, please send an email to both Nadeem and copy me. (If you handed over your equipment last week but did not send an email, please make sure to do that.)
Finally, if you have lost any equipment (e.g., power adapters), you need to provide us with a replacement. Please make sure you do this on Tuesday as well.
Quiz 2 is scheduled today 29/07/24 starting at 2.30 pm. See the details here .
Here is the Teams meeting link, if you face any issues during the quiz.
A final exam practice exam has been scheduled on the Inspera platform. This practice test requires the SEB browser. Please install the SEB browser from the UNSW Inspera site , run the demo test on Inspera, and then you will be ready to attempt the practice exam.
The practice exam will remain open till 16 Aug 2024 but you can only attempt it once. The practice exam duration is 45 min.
Hi Everyone,
Since you have completed all the labs by now, we would like you to return the equipment you burrowed. We have allocated two time slots next week.
Monday 29th July - 12.00pm-1.00pm
Friday 2nd August - 12.00pm-1.00pm
Location - K17 G01 Consultation Room
Following is a list of equipment we handed over.
Please note that if all members of a group are unable to visit the university during the above times, you are allowed to make other arrangements such as ask a friend or a classmate to handover your equipment. However, in such cases, you must still take the full responsibility of the equipment until we have received them and you need to make sure your ZIDs are properly communicated during the handover.
We have decided the above slots so that you can either come before the lecture on Monday or you have sufficient time to make arrangements to return the equipment on Friday. Therefore, please note that we will not provide any more time slots for device return.
Thank you.

Good luck with the quiz!
We are in Week 4 now. Some updates follow:
1. Draft Assignment specifications V1 are released. Although the deadline seems far away (2nd August 2024), we encourage you to start early. Use the Ed forum to post questions/comments. We will update the specifications as we go along and change the version number to indicate the latest specifications.
2. Your first graded online, Inspera-based Quiz is in Week 5 (24th June 2024 2.30 pm to 3.00 pm). Follow the Quizzes Information item in the menu to read the relevant information. If you are new to the Inspera platform, now is a good time to acquaint yourself with the test environment.
3. Lab 3 specifications are also available. Lab2 is due today 17th June 2024 at 5 pm.
See you in the class later today.
Hi All,
I believe many of you all had your first lab session this week and now have a better understanding about how the labs are conducted.
Please note the following information regarding the device collection and Lab 2
Device Collection
We have noticed that around 20 groups have not collected the devices this week. Therefore, we decided to provide one more time slot on next Tuesday 11th June from 9.30 AM - 10.30 AM at the G01 Consultation Room in K17 Building.
Please note that this is the last time slot you will receive for device collection. If you don't have the devices for Lab 2 and Lab 3 you will lose the marks for lab performance. Note that for Lab 2, this will include 40 out of 100.
Lab 2
Please note that Lab 2 involves a Lab setup component in addition to the lab performance part. We have added a document named "Setting up your Gears" under Lab 2. This document provides you instructions to set up the Raspberry Pi and install a virtual machine with Kali Linux.
We recommend you to try and setup your devices below you come to the Lab next week. While the lab itself may not take much time to complete, it is possible that file downloads, image flashing, etc, may take considerable time and if you start everything during the lab, you may not be able to finish it during the lab session.
Hi all,
Many of you had several questions regarding Lab formation and Equipment collection. I hope you will find the following information useful.
Lab Groups
1. The labs are expected to be completed as a group task. Almost all labs will have two components. A lab performance component and a submission component. Your tutors will brief you on them at the start of each lab.
2. For the lab performance component, you need to attend the lab, either in-person (organ (LG19) - https://taggi.cse.unsw.edu.au/FAQ/CSE_lab_map/ ) or remotely. Marks will be given for your genuine efforts in attempting the lab during your allocated session. Therefore, if members of the same group join remotely from different locations, all members have to try the lab individually. Please note that for labs that require an equipment set, this means that you have to have more than one set. We will only assign one equipment set per group. Lab performance marks will be given individually unless the group members are working together at the same physical location, in which case they would get equal marks.
3. For the submission component, all members of the group will get the same marks unless a student complains that they did not receive support from their other group member for the lab submission. In such cases, we will investigate the complaint and reduce/void the marks of the student who did not contribute. The tutors will provide you information about the submission component and the relevant deadlines at the start of each lab.
4. Due to privacy concerns, we cannot publish information (e.g. email addresses) about the students in a specific lab session. However, we have decided to use the following excel sheet to make it easy for you to get into groups. There you will find 7 sheets, a sheet for each lab session and placeholders to add your name to a group. If you have created a group already please add the names of your group members in the sheet. If you want to find a random partner you can try to put you name in a placeholder and expect someone else to add their names as your partner. Otherwise, you use next week's lecture on Monday or Lab 1 to find a group member (before starting the Lab you can try to find a partner or ask your tutor to help you form a group). Once you make the group make sure to update the excel file.
Device Collection
As mentioned previously, we will issue 1 set of devices to 1 group. There would be two time slots next week for you to collect the devices. One person from a group can come and collect them. Note that the group should be formed and updated in the excel sheet by the time you collect the devices.
Location - K17 G01 Consultation Room ( https://studentvip.com.au/unsw/kensington/maps/133... )
Times -
Monday 3rd June 12pm - 1pm
Thursday 6th June 4pm - 5pm
