A friendly reminder about the showcase this coming Friday 4-6pm.

Dear Thesis C Students,
Each year we organise a Thesis Showcase where outstanding Thesis C students will show off their work to the School staff, their fellow students and a wider community. We are delighted to invite you to attend the Showcase for 2024 where 16 students will be presenting their work in an in-person interactive poster and demonstration session.
The Showcase will at 4-6pm on Friday, 6 Dec 2024, in the Innovation Central Sydney located in the basement of Building K17. (There is a chance that some students may be presenting at an additional venue on the ground floor of K17 and we will update the information if this is the case.)
The current list of students who will be taking part is at:

Please be reminded that you need to submit your Thesis C demo slides to the Thesis Management System by 10pm this Sunday (3rd Nov). If you cannot find a suitable time to do the demo in week 8, you MUST still submit your slides by the due date. Otherwise, you will get the late penalty . The only exception is that if you have been granted an extension to submit your slides by the Thesis Coordinator or Thesis Admin.
Resending the following notice with the correct link to the presentation schedule. My apologies that I put the wrong link in earlier.
---------
You can find the presentation schedule for Thesis A and C presentations at here (UNSW login required) You are welcome to attend other students' presentations to support them. For those who haven't informed us on your presentation details, you can still add it to here (WebCMS3 login required) and we will add to the schedule.
Some of you may be interested in levelling up your skills in mathematics. You may want some interesting topics related to computer science in the Australian Mathematical Sciences Institute (AMSI) Summer School 2025, taking place from 7–31 January at The University of Sydney, and online. Details are
here
.
We have written to you last week on Week 8's presentation. We recommend that you do it in-person rather than online. The minimum audience of your presentation is your supervisor and assessor, but it will be good if you can deliver your presentation to a wider audience including other thesis students. It will also be great if you can attend other students' presentations .
In order that you can deliver an in-person presentation that other students can attend, we have reserved rooms in K17 for you to use or we can book a room for you. You can use the Google Forms link here (WebCMS3 login required) to:
We will compile the information and announce a schedule so that you can attend other students' presentations. Although we are not making in-person presentation to a wider audience compulsory this term, we strongly encourage you to do it.
We ask you to provide the information to us by Thur 24 Oct (Week 7) so that we can announce an initial schedule this Friday.
Dear Thesis C Students,
In Week 8, you are required to give a demo of your thesis project. Please schedule a time in Week 8 for the demo with your supervisor and assessor. Although no other attendees are required, it is good to have relevant people who are interested in your project, to attend your demo so that you can get more feedback.
You can do the demo
on-site
or
online
. However, we encourage you doing the presentation
on-site
.
For online demo, we recommend Microsoft Teams which is included in UNSW office 365 and can be login by using your zpass.
Key facts about the demo:
One IMPORTANT thing to note:
If you cannot find a suitable time to do the demo in week 8, you can do it later, but you MUST submit your slides by the due date. Otherwise, you will get the late penalty.
If you have further information to be included, please let me know.
Regards,
Dr. Jing Hsu, CSE Thesis Admin

Dear 24T3 Thesis C students,
The Thesis Management System (TMS) has unfortunately gone buggy since last week. If you log onto TMS, it will say that you are enrolled in Thesis C in 24T3, which is correct. But, it also says that you were enrolled in Thesis C in 24T2, which is a bug. This is just to let you know that the issue is on our end, not yours.
As a result of the bug, I'm afraid you are not able to see your Thesis B results on TMS at the moment.
I'm afraid it may take a couple of weeks to get that fixed due to staffing issue. My apologies for the problems.

Welcome to Thesis C!
I hope you had a good break and are ready to get Thesis C started. Please send an email to your supervisor to find a regular meeting time so that you can resume your Thesis work.
There are two assessments for Thesis C: demo in week 8 and report in week 11. Some useful resources at the Thesis C website are: marking criteria for Thesis C, sample Thesis C presentation slides, sample theses, etc.
I will send a separate announcement in a moment on "How to write a good thesis" talk in Week 2. This talk is to help you to write your thesis at the end of term.
All the best for your Thesis C.
