  • Week 11 presentation: In-person to a wider audience

Posted by Chun Tung Chou Tuesday 29 July 2025, 07:21:21 AM, last modified Tuesday 29 July 2025, 07:22:11 AM.

We have written to you earlier this week on Week 11's presentation. We recommend that you do it in-person rather than online. The minimum audience of your presentation is your supervisor and assessor, but it will be good if you can deliver your presentation to a wider audience including other thesis students. It will also be great if you can attend other students' presentations .

In order that you can deliver an in-person presentation that other students can attend, we have reserved rooms in K17 for you to use or we can book a room for you. You can use the Google Forms link here (WebCMS3 login required) to:

    1. Book a time slot in a room in K17 to do your thesis presentation
    2. Ask us to book a room for you
    3. Let us know the time and location of your presentation if you already have a room available

We will compile the information and announce a schedule so that you can attend other students' presentations. Although we are not making in-person presentation to a wider audience compulsory this term, we strongly encourage you to do it.

We ask you to provide the information to us by Thur 7 Aug (Week 10) so that we can announce an initial schedule by Friday of Week 10.

  • Thesis B Demo Slides Submission

Posted by Jing Hsu Monday 28 July 2025, 12:01:12 PM.

    Dear Thesis B Students,

In Week 11, you are required to give a demo of your thesis project. Please schedule a time in Week 11 for the demo with your supervisor and assessor. Although no other attendees are required, it is good to have relevant people who are interested in your project, to attend your demo so that you can get more feedback.

We recommend that you do your demo face-to-face.

    Key facts about your demo:

    • Worth 5% of your final thesis result.
    • Please follow the Marking Rubric and Assessment Components to prepare your demo.
    • Organise the time/date yourself with supervisor and assessor
    • A 45-minute demo about the progress of your thesis (including talk/demo, Q&A, debrief with supervisor/assessor)

Submit the demo slides in TMS by 10pm 17th Aug Sunday Week 11 (firm). If you cannot submit it by the deadline due to some valid reasons, contact me for an extension ( supervisor approval email must be provided ).

If you cannot find a suitable time to do the demo in week 11, you can do it later, but you MUST submit your slides by the due date. Otherwise, you will get the late penalty.

  • Welcome to Thesis B!

    Welcome to Thesis B!

I hope you had a good break and are ready to get Thesis B started. Please send an email to your supervisor to find a regular meeting time so that you can resume your Thesis work. Note that the website for COMP4962 is located on WebCMS3 at https://webcms3.cse.unsw.edu.au/COMP4962/25T2/ .

There is only one deliverable for Thesis B: demo in week 11. Some useful resources at the Computer Science Thesis B (COMP4962) website are: marking criteria for Thesis B demo, sample Thesis B demo slides, etc.

It is important to point out that, although the deliverable is in Week 11, you will need to work steadily each week in order to complete the plan that you have made for Thesis B.

All the best for your Thesis B!
