Class participation rubric (CP is worth 10% of your marks for the course, it is part of your 'portfolio') :

Fail : Fail is a possible CP mark. If you are at risk of failing, I will let you know (generally by flexibility week, unless performance drops later in the term) and give you some suggestions for lifting your performance (including the possibility of presenting on a topic in class).

Pass : You turn up to at least 80% of law seminars (this is required in any event), mostly on-time. You participate occasionally (at least once every 2 seminars) and are not completely unprepared. You contribute in group work (not browsing your phone) and listen respectfully to your peers.

Credit: You turn up to at least 80% of law seminars (this is required in any event) on-time. You participate sometimes (at least once most classes), demonstrating knowledge of pre-work. You contribute in group work (actively) and listen respectfully to your peers.

Distinction: You turn up to at least 80% of law seminars (this is required in any event) on-time. You participate often (at least once per class attended), demonstrating mastery of pre-work and good analysis. You contribute in group work (actively), listen respectfully to your peers (often expanding on their ideas), and avoid dominating discussion.

High Distinction: You turn up to at least 80% of law seminars (this is required in any event) on-time. You participate often (at least once per class attended), demonstrating mastery of pre-work, excellent analysis and real insight. You contribute in group work (actively), listen respectfully to your peers (often expanding on their ideas), and avoid dominating discussion.

If you want to ask how you are travelling in CP, please come up to me 3.30pm Tuesdays (after the seminar). Note that CP is unaffected by asking questions - ask the questions you want to know the answer to; no question asked will reduce your CP.
