We have sent your project marks to your UNSW email. If you have questions regarding your marks, please follow the instructions in the email .
Since we released the test cases, a few students emailed us asking for making minor changes to their submitted project code or marking them in a different setting. We are unable to allow any code changes based on a case-by-case basis or mark any submission differently, as it will be unfair to the other students.
For now, please focus on the exam. Once we mark the final exam, we will look for discrepancies between the project marks and exam marks for all students , and manually re-mark their project if needed.
FYI, the cohort performance of the project is as follows:
1st Qu.: 5.520 Median : 6.540 Mean : 6.654 3rd Qu.: 7.835 Max. :10.000
Reminder: The final exam is scheduled on next Thursday 30th Nov 13:45-16:00 .
Consultations are still available on both Monday and Thursday next week (including the evening on the 30th). They are for students with questions before the exam or with doubt about their project marks.
As mentioned in the last live lecture, we are finalizing the project marks (almost there) and running the tests a few times for cross validation. Your marking result shall then be emailed to you by the end of this week. Once it's done, I will post another Notice.
Meanwhile, if you like, you can check and run the marking testcases by:
1) log in to a CSE linux machine and go to the folder containing your index.py and search.py
2) run ~cs6714/reuters/marking
In theory, the results returned from this script that you run should be the same with the marking result that you will receive by email later this week.
If you have any questions regarding the marking tests, please come to any consultations .
Reminder : (1) The project is due tomorrow 12:00noon; and (2) as mentioned previously, there is no in-person lecture tomorrow.
Final exam : It's confirmed that the (in-person) final exam is scheduled on Thursday 30th Nov 13:45-16:00 . Students will be emailed their seat allocation (Lab/Seat No/Times) early Week 11. ELS will be catered for (extra time, group/small/individual room). I will go through more details (format, scope, etc) at the week 10 live lecture.
You can find your assignment raw & breakdown marks (without any applicable late penalty) on Moodle.
As mentioned at the end of the live lecture today, if you answered some of the questions wrong, please try to work them out again (since the final exam will have questions of a similar style but cover more topics) and come to one of the consultations if you have questions.
There was an issue with some of the sample outputs in the project spec and it has now been fixed. Further elaborations have also been added based on some Ed forum questions. All modifications are in red.
It is available (project due: Tuesday 7th November 12:00 noon ). It will be further discussed in the live lecture this afternoon.
Please also note that next week is flexi week and there will be no lecture. However, consultation sessions will be run as usual. So please drop by if you have any catch-up questions or questions about the project.
As stated in the assignment instructions: You must click "Finish Attempt" to have your assignment submitted for marking, else your attempt will NOT be submitted automatically and you will receive no marks.
You may attempt the assignment and click "Finish Attempt" multiple times before the assignment is due. But if you click "Finish Attempt" after the due time, it will be marked with late penalty, as
only t
he last "Finish Attempt"
is recorded.
The correct semantics for +n should be:
+n
specifies that the first term must precede the second term by
no more than
the specified number of terms.
For example, capital +3 punishment finds capital within 3 words of punishment, in the order they are written.
Please post on Ed if you have further questions.
The non-programming assignment (worth 10% of the course) will be available from 12pm tomorrow on Moodle under the section Assessments (you may need to click the down arrow to open the collapsible section to see it).
It is due on Tuesday, 10 October 2023 12:00pm (noon).
Please post on Ed if you have problem to access it.
Both in-person and online consultations start next week (please check the timetable & location ). For example, if you have any question regarding the lecture materials, you can stop by the in-person consultation session on Monday at H13 Lawrence East 1040 2-4pm (2 hours).
