    I have finalised the marks in SMS. I have added 1 bonus mark to your total to reflect the high myExperience return rate and guest lecture attendance rate in Week 10 according to the rule published earlier.

    I am impressed very much by the the quality of the projects. I would like to particularly highlight the following project and team .

    "AI On Edge: Help Protect the Great Barrier Reef" by Team SmartEdge (Members' names are omitted due to privacy concerns). The guest lecturer from CSRIO that works on the project is also very impressed by the results achieved.

    I hope all of you enjoyed the course. Congratulations if you are graduating this term. If you will be at uni in 2023, then I wish you a great summer break and hope to see you in some other courses next year.

    • I am looking forward to your demo later today . You are welcome to attend other teams' demo and provide constructive feedback. Please arrive 30 minutes earlier to prepare for the demo. If you haven't done so, please do make a video as a backup plan.
    • For the teams that will demo f2f. Please bring your devices to the demo and return them to us after your demo. For other students, please contact Cheng (Jacob) for device return.
    • Thanks to all of you who have completed myExperience so far. If you haven’t completed it yet, please provide your feedback via this link . We have a 56% response rate and reach milestone 2 (bonus 2 marks), and are not far away from milestone 3 (i.e., 75% response rate and bonus 3 marks).

  • Project progress mark, guest lecture participation rate.

    • We have released project progress marks. Please allow 24 hours for the systems to sync.
    • While the my experience response rate is encouraging (33% currently), and we thank you for the constructive feedback, the guest lecture participation rate this morning is underwhelming. Please note that the bonus mark offer is based on both myexperience return rate and the guest lecture participation rate. Please try your best to attend the guest lecture tomorrow. Besides, the guest lecturer obtained his PhD from a top CS school in the USA (i.e., CMU, https://www.usnews.com/best-graduate-schools/top-science-schools/computer-science-rankings ), and is the director of new technology in a fast growing start-up that turns interesting technology ideas to commercially viable products. I am sure that you will benefit from it enormously.

  • Week 10: Guest lectures and recap

    • We will have two exciting guest lectures from CSIROl (Environmental monitoring IoT) and AiFi (smart retailer). I will present a recap at the end of Tuesday's lecture to wrap up the course.
    • Thanks for the students that have entered your choice to the poll. If you haven't done so, please enter your preference here and email the demo slots constraints to me (if any) by COB, today.
    • Thanks for the students that have entered your MyExperience feedback. We have reached the first milestone (>25%), and it is still open (for more bonus marks :-).
    • Last minute project consultation is available during the consultation time slot, regular lab time slots , and may be arranged on-demand via email.

    • I have added the project project demo and report information in website . As shown in the course outline , the demo will be held between 9:30 and 17, 21/11/2022 Monday. You are encouraged but not compulsory to attend the whole demo session. there is no peer marking arrangement for the demo either, but we appreciate your feedback very much. If you have any constraints in the demo time slots, please send an email to me (please copy the email to all your group members) before COB, 14/11/2022, Monday. I am looking forward to seeing your demo. Please also fill in the quiz for the demo and dietary options before COB, 14/11/2022.
    • We will have two existing guest lectures from AiFi (a smart retailer start-up based on Silicon Valley) and CSIRO (the Australia government scientific research agency, which leads the star fish/ecosystem monitoring project in the Great Barrier Reef) respectively next week. I will also conclude the course at the end of Tuesday's lecture.
    • MyExperience is open . We value and appreciate your feedbacks a lot, especially on the new materials (AWS IoT Core and Edge AI with NVIDIA Jestson Dev Kit).
    • To encourage the participatory rates for MyExperience and the guest lectures. We will provide bonus marks for participation with the following equation, i.e., 1 mark if MyExperience return rate and guest lectures attendance rate are more than 25%, 2 marks if MyExperience return rate and guest lectures attendance rate are more than 50%, 3 marks if MyExperience return rate and guest lectures attendance rate are more than 75%, 4 marks if MyExperience return rate and guest lectures attendance rate are 100%,

  • Peer marking for the progress presentation and progress report

    • Thanks for reporting your project progress during the lecture time. It is good to know that all of you have made solid progress in your project in spite of some unavoidable setback. Thanks for the participation in peer marking. We have received about 170 responses. If your group haven't done so, please enter the marks via the Google form available in this link before COB, Thursday.
    • Also, the progress report is due on Friday.

  • Week 8: Project Progress Presentation, and embedded signal processing

    • We will have proposal progress presentation this week. Similar to the proposal presentation, every team member is expected to present. We have also created a (new) Google form available in the page web above to collect peer marking (one submission per team please). Please don't forget to submit your progress report on Friday (one submission per team please).
    • Although there won't be any new lab materials, your tutors will be available in the lab time between Weeks 8 and 10 to help you with your projects and Problem Sets .
    • We will cover embedded signal processing slides on Tuesday after the proposal presentation.

    • Thanks for presenting your project proposals during the lecture time. I enjoyed the presentation very much and look forward to the project deliveries in Week 8. Thanks for the participation in peer marking. We have received about 200 responses. If your group haven't done so, please enter the marks via the Google form available i n this link before COB, Thursday. We have also found an A4 Exercise Book in Tuesday'e lecture. If it belongs to you, please send me an email to arrange a time to collect it from my office.
    • I have upload the localisation video in the course website to help you better prepare for Lab 4.

  • Week 5: Project Proposal Presentation

    • Monday (03/10/22) is a public holiday and there will be NO lecture. We hope you will enjoy the rest of long weekend.
    • Day night saving in Sydney started today (02/10/22). Please adjust your clock accordingly if you are in a different timezone.
    • Project groups and topics have been allocated. Presentation schedule in Week 5 and marking rubrics will be released later this week.
    • Lab 2 demo and submission due this week, and Lab 3 will be in MQTT/AWS IoT Core.

    Hello again,

    One of the groups forgot to make their group visible, which was invisible to me too.     Hello class,

    • Thanks for your input, and we have allocated the projects to the group. Please see Project page for the details. If you haven't done so, please say Hi to your group members and start to discuss the project scopes.
    • We have uploaded some videos on BLE , and ETX calculation to better prepare you for the problemset.
    • Since next Monday is a public holiday, there is no lecture and lab (therefore, the deadlines for future Monday labs will be extended for one week accordingly). We hope that you have lovely long weekend and look forward to seeing you in Tuesday's lecture.

    Hello all,

    We have 61 students enrolled in the course, but only 35 of them belongs to a group in Groups . Can you please form a group and make the group visiable before CoB Thursday (29/09)? I will assign the students without groups to groups randomly on Friday.

    • Project groups and topics will be finalised this week. If you don't have a group or your group is missing members, please come to the lecture and I will try to match you. I will assign the "orphan" students to random groups with random projects later this week.
    • Lab 1 demo and submission due this week. Lab 2 will be in IoT connectivity.

    If you will be based remotely during T3 and haven't provided your equipment delivery address to us, please fill in the form in https://webcms3.cse.unsw.edu.au/COMP6733/22T3/reso... asap to avoid delay.

    If you will based in Sydney, please pick them up from your tutors during the lab time in Week 1 (for f2f labs), or a pre-arranged time with your tutors (for online labs) in Week 0/1.

    • The lectures are scheduled in Ainsworth 202 (Monday) and Ainsworth G02 (Tuesday) currently. We are looking forward to meeting you on campus.
    • Based on the MyExperience feedback from previous years, we have a 4-hour lab session each week. However, apart from the demonstration (lab assessment), you are NOT required to attend the full lab sessions.
    • We will use special devices (e.g., sensortags) in the labs, which will be collected from the campus during the first lab session in Week 1. If you plan to attend the course remotely (e.g., from interstates or overseas), please let us know by emails (wen dot hu at unsw dot edu dot au. Please replace at with @, and dot with ., and remove the spaces in the email address) ASAP.
