We’ve finalised the marks in SMS (please allow up to 24 hours for the system to sync).
To reflect the high myExperience response rate (70%), We’ve added a 0.5 bonus mark to your final project result. Additionally, We’ve applied a 0 to 1 bonus mark to your project progress result based on attendance at the Week 9 guest lecture, as per the guidelines shared earlier. Project marks have also been scaled based on peer assessments of individual contributions.

There is no lecture in Week 10. However, your tutors and I will be available in the lab and lecture slots respectively to answer final-minute project questions.

To encourage the participatory rates for MyExperience. We will provide bonus marks for participation with the following equation, i.e., 0.25 mark if MyExperience return rate more than 25%, 0.5 mark if MyExperience return rate is more than 50%, 0.75 mark if MyExperience return rate is more than 75%, 1 mark if MyExperience return rate is 100%. We have just over 10% return rate currently.

The Peer Assessment for your group development project is now open on
Moodle
. 1) Choose the "Project Peer Assessment" module. You will assess your teammates based on their contributions to the project, including system design, implementation, testing, documentation, and related project management tasks. 2) Please complete and submit your peer assessment by COB, Monday, 11 August 2025. Only assessments submitted by the deadline will be considered for individual grade adjustments.

Guest lectures and recap

We will have two existing guest lectures from CSIRO and Vertical Patch respectively this week. As discussed last week, we will provide bonus marks for participation with 0.5 mark for each guest lecture, and will distribute check-in sheets in the lectures to collect attendance rates, and hope to see you there. I will also conclude the course at the end of Wednesday's lecture.

Guest lectures next week

We will have two existing guest lectures from CSIRO (the Australian government scientific research agency, which leads the star fish/ecosystem monitoring project in the Great Barrier Reef) and Vertical Patch (a local indoor farming start-up) respectively next week.

This week, we will be conducting a
Proposal Progress Presentation
. In line with the initial proposal presentation, we expect each team member to participate in presenting. Additionally, we have introduced a new Google Form, accessible via the link provided on the webpage above, to facilitate the collection of peer evaluations (one submission per team is required). Please ensure to submit your progress report by Friday; again, we require one submission per team.

Based on MyExperience feedback from previous years, each lab session is 2-hour, supported by two tutors per lab to ensure you get the help you need.

labs
, we’ll be working with special devices such as the Arduino Nano with Bluetooth Low Energy. These will be distributed during the first lab session in Week 2, which will take place on campus. Please note that labs will begin in Week 2 (instead of Week 1) to better accommodate the public holiday (09/06/25).
