Hello Class,
The exam links will be accessible via Moodle. Exams are done in two parts: one link will open at 2pm (closes at 3:05pm), another one 3:15pm (closes at 4:20pm). This gives 10 mins break between the sessions.
You won't be able to access the link before the designated time.
The exam instruction page will contain a Zoom link you can join during the exam in case I need to communicate a message to you. Any clarification needed, I will announce it in the course homepage (i.e., here in WebCMS) - as well as in the Zoom room.
Good luck with the exam today.
I will upload the recording in Echo360 soon ...
A reminder of the guest lecture today.
You are more than welcome to come to the lecture theatre - we have a big theatre so it should be not so difficult to practice social distancing.
If you want to join online, we will post a Zoom link in Ed as well as WebCMS noticeboard before the lecture.
See you this evening.
Hello Class,
As advertised, the first Week 10 Lecture (Tuesday) is delivered by a special guest lecturer Dr. Sebastian Sequoiah-Grayson on "Ethics for computer scientist".
Seb will be at the theatre to deliver a face-to-face lecture, but you can also join the lecture live online via a Zoom session.
Note: the Zoom link will be mail out to you 30 mins before the lecture start.
Seb started with us about 6 months ago, and you can find more about him
here
The second lecture (Wednesday) is the last lecture for the term. I will talk about radomisation as the last algorithm topic, and finish with a course wrap-up.
If you can brave the weather and come to the campus, I will be at the lecture theatre at 6pm to give lectures (Echo360 recording will be on).
It is likely to finish a bit early today, as we only have a small topic to cover this week. Tomorrow (Wednesday), after the regular topic, I will pick up the left over topic from Week 5.
The results should be visible to you on Moodle (following the same quiz link, I believe).
You should see your answer, correct answer and general feedback on each question (if available).
As advertised on Ed, this week we are going virtual (both Week 7 Tuesday and Wednesday):
Here is the link for Zoom sessions (same link for both Tuesday and Wednesday)

Back to F2F lectures from Week 8.
The specification and start-up files are released. Due date is 3rd August Wednesday (Week 10). The submission on GIVE isn't completely setup yet, but it will be soon.
Find the spec on the menu "Assignment".
All questions and answers on the assignment will be on the Ed forum.
Hello Class,
The midterm quiz will open from Wednesday 6th July 5:58pm (AEST) till 7:02pm (AEST) on Moodle. You won't be able to access the quiz outside of the specified time.
Hello,
I might have accidentally unenrolled the whole class from the forum ...
You may have to re-enrol using the link below. Sorry for the trouble (!!!)
Hello class ...
The midterm will be, as advertised (!), Week 6 Wednesday 6pm-7pm (AEST). Here are some details you may want to know.
Scope
: the questions will cover lecture materials from Week 1 up to Week 5 Minimum Spanning Trees (slide #52).
# of Questions:
There will be 10 questions in total. 6 MCQ, 4 written answer questions.
Style of questions:
No programming questions. But you may be given a piece C code to read. You will have to understand the code to answer questions. As mentioned, the questions will be similar to the weekly Problem Sets. If you have not been paying attention to them, this will be a good opportunity to study them.
Quiz platform:
We will use Moodle Quiz system - and the link to the system will be posted on this noticeboard in due course.
Happy revision. The rest of the questions can be put on the Ed forum.
Hello Class,
Just a gentle reminder that 26 Jun 2022, 11:59pm is the last day to drop Teaching Period Two (T2) courses without financial liability (also does not incur academic penalty)
Problem Sets, Weekly assessments and Online Help Sessions.
We will use Ed as our course forum platform, as it seems to be the popular choice by many other courses. You can self-join the forum via following this link (you need to use your UNSW email):
https://edstem.org/au/join/JmQGbh
If you have a problem joining/using the platform, please let me know.
Dear COMP9024 Student,
Welcome to Term 2, 2022 offering of COMP9024 Data Structures and Algorithms.
There is no expected activity before the first class in Week 1, which is on Tuesday (31st May) from 6-8pm.
Meanwhile check out the course webpage
webcms3.cse.unsw.edu.au/COMP9024/22T2/
. Have a look at the "Course Outline" to learn more about the contents of the course, the assessments and recommended textbooks.
Note that currently, the lectures are scheduled to be face-to-face at Keith Burrows Theatre . We won't be able to live stream this, but the lectures will be recorded and uploaded to Echo360 for students who cannot (or prefer not to) attend physically. As we progress through the term, we will gather some feedback on this from the class, and see if it would be better to switch to fully online, but for now, let's start with how it is planned.
So see you on the 31st of May 6pm.
