Hello, class,
A few things to note before the exam.
IMPORTANT: I normally handle marks related enquiries after the final exams. So, do not email me about the marks now. We can resolve the issues after the exam.
I have uploaded relevant materials for Week 12 lecture.
Quiz 3 is re-opened for students who did not complete it last time. Quiz 4 (covering the last topic and the labs) is available. Both Quiz 3 and Quiz 4 are due on 28th May (Sunday) 11:59pm. I will send a reminder.
There is a lecture on Monday (3-6pm, MAT303). This will be the final lecture (NO REPEAT LECTURE on WEDNESDAY) for this semester. I will use this time to introduce the concept of service orchestration/composition, then final wrap-up and final exam Q/A.
For those who cannot attend Monday, I will put out enough information afterwards so that you do not miss out on necessary information.
Quiz 4 will be released this week. I will also re-open Quiz 3 for students who missed it (10% late penalty applies). I will send reminders out when they are open.
Update: OK - Back online now ...
For some reason, Google has closed off my youtube account. So the lecture videos are not available. They seem to think that there were some suspicious activities. I have requested to enable the account again, but I am not sure what Google would do. Very annoying, as I do not have backup videos.
See the Assignment 2 page for submission guides and marking template. You can also check the available time slots for Week 11 Demo (Wed/Thur) and send me email to book the time that suits you.
Hello, everyone,
I have created a forum page where you can post a message to find an assignment partner. Once a group is formed, please register the details through the Groups page.
For Week 8 through to Week 10, we will have assignment two project meeting sessions. The booking slots are available from the Lectures page (Week 8-Week 10). You need to attend at least two sessions out of three.
Send me email to book the slots.
For students who are not in a group by Friday Week 8, I will randomly form groups and notify. If you don't want this, try the forum page I mentioned above.
Quiz 3 is out now - and is due 16th April 23:59. The topic is data services.
Assignment two specification is on the way. I will release the detail either late tonight or sometime tomorrow.
But most importantly, enjoy the break!
(UPDATE) the peer marking deadline is today 23:59.
Under the Assignment 1 menu, I've updated marking instructions (and some suggested test cases). Log in to the peer marking system again. Each student is allocated to mark two solutions. The schedule of the peer assessment is as follows:

Hi, there,
To be able to import/export your and other student's docker containers, the importMaretData() and downloadFile() operations need to be portable. Especially, the downloadFile() operation would require access to the host/server (like your comp9322srv) IP address so that you can generate the correct URL suitable for the running environment.
Although it is possible to pass that info from a server to its containers, It turns out we need some extra environment configurations on the server. That is beyond what we called for in the assignment.
So, after some thought, with the help of Louis (current student in our class) and Nima (the student who is helping me with the labs this session), we will change the output specification of the downloadFile() to return the file content as-is, rather than its URL.
I have already reduced the size of the Market Data Files. So, the size of the file content wouldn't be too big for SOAP. For example, the response type could be set to xsd:base64Binary. I will update the spec with exact instructions as soon as I can. Just thought I'd let you know first. Thanks, Louis for raising this.
This is a reminder for the quiz 1. You have until 11pm tonight to finish the questions.
The first quiz (Quiz 1) on Week 1-3 lecture content will be released at 7pm today (Wed, 15th March), and will close at 11:00pm Sunday 19th March). I will discuss the answers during the class in Week 4. The quizzes are linked from 'Activities' menu item.
The assignment 1 specification will be released tomorrow (Thursday) via the course menu link.
Hello, class ...
Just to make sure that no one is confused about this. The Monday and Wednesday classes are the same. I repeat Monday's class on Wednesday. I asked the school to split the class into two so that I could have a smaller classroom (hence two tutorials, rather than 1 lecture).
If, somehow, you are enrolled for Monday lecture and Wednesday tutorial ... please choose whichever time that suits you better. You do not have to come for both.
From Week 2, we move to a smaller class room (MAT303). For the next couple of weeks, I ask you to stick to the class time you have enrolled. Especially, if you are enrolled for Wednesday classes, avoid turning up for Monday ones for the time being. The classroom is small, we cannot accommodate the entire class ... but I am sure after a couple of weeks, we should be able to be more flexible.
You can bring your laptop. I am going to try to fit in some lab activities, if we can.
The course outline and course schedule pages are now available. Other course materials will become visible in due course.
There will be an intro lecture next week (Week 1) on Monday 3pm. I will talk about the course aims, expected learning outcomes, and how the course will run with two tutorial time slots (Monday/Wednesday).
Looking forward to meeting you in person and hopefully we will have a fantastic semester together.
