  • Project marks are now available

Project marks have just been released. When you check your provisional project marks, you will see three fields:

    • "project_autotests" (out of 16) is the auto-test score for your submitted code. We applied 16 tests. The first 8 are the same as those that we provided to you before your submission. The other 8 tests are new.
    • "project_report" (out of 18) is the score for your report. The marking criteria for the report are given in Section 7.2 of the project spec.
    • "project" is your project mark out of 30. It is calculated by 0.75 * project_autotests + project_report

I will be emailing you a short report which outlines where you have lost marks for your report. I will also put a forum post explaining the common mistakes that the students made.

I used the phrase "provisional project mark" earlier because we have not performed plagiarism check on your project. So the results may change after we have gone through those checks. I want to stress that, if your submitted work is your own, there is nothing to worry about.

You can check your marks at:

  • Exam / Sample exam solution / SEB

Posted by Chun Tung Chou Thursday 02 May 2024, 10:19:02 PM, last modified Thursday 02 May 2024, 10:31:48 PM.

The COMP9334 exam will take place tomorrow (Friday, 3 May).

I have updated the solution of the sample exam to correct a number of errors. I want to thank those students who pointed out those errors. You can see the latest version on WebCMS3. The latest version will also be available within Inspera.

I've been asked by the exam unit to relay to you the following information on Secure Exam Browser (SEB).

    • You should install the SEB before your exam.
    • You MUST install your UNSW compatible version of SEB from the UNSW page: https://www.student.unsw.edu.au/exams/inspera/on-campus
    • The version number for your SEB must be that indicated in the above webpage. Note Windows and Mac have their own version number.
    • If you have already downloaded SEB from elsewhere online, your UNSW Inspera test may not work. Please uninstall the incorrect version and then install the correct version.

All the best with your exam tomorrow.

You will get your project marks within the next half an hour. I will send another update to let you know.

You can check your marks at this link:

    https://cgi.cse.unsw.edu.au/~give/code/login.php?app=/~give/Student/sturec.php

I will be emailing your marked report.pdf where I have put some comments in the pdf file. In order for you to better understand those comments, I will create three threads (one for each question) on the course forum which explains the common problems that are found in the Assignment. I aim to get the emails and forum threads out in the next hour or so. I would appreciate if you read the forum threads before making any query.

You should be able to attempt Question 1 of the assignment now, and work on Questions 2 and 3 after this week's lectures.

  • Lecture Recording (Week 2, Friday)

Posted by Chun Tung Chou Friday 23 February 2024, 01:01:05 PM.

The technical issue for recording the Friday lecture has unfortunately not been resolved it.

You will find a link to the recording for this morning's lecture under Week 2B at the course website.

I will be able to link that recording to Echo360 later this afternoon so that you have all the recordings at one place. I am not able to say when because Echo360 is still processing that video.

  • Lecture recording (Friday, Week 1)

Posted by Chun Tung Chou Friday 16 February 2024, 12:49:25 PM.

Unfortunately, the lecture recordings for today's (Friday, Week 1) is broken into two parts due to a technical issue between my laptop and the system in the lecture theatre.

    • You can view roughly the first 6 minutes of the lecture on Echo360, after that the display for the lecture slides turned into a green screen
    • You can view the rest of the lecture recording by going to the course WebCMS3 site, under "Lectures" > "Week 1B", you will find a link for lecture recording.

    My apologies for the problem.

  • Lecture recording / forum

Posted by Chun Tung Chou Tuesday 13 February 2024, 07:56:19 PM.

I am writing to you regarding two aspects of the course.

Lecture recording : You can access the lecture recordings via the Moodle site for COMP9334. If you attempted to access the recordings via Moodle earlier today but could not, that was because of a set up problem and that has now been fixed.

Forum : We will be using the Ed forum for course discussion. If you head to the course website ( http://www.cse.unsw.edu.au/~cs9334 ) and click on the link "Forum", you will find instructions to enrol yourselves in the forum.
