Due to insufficient demand, there will not be revision lecture this week.
Exam info: I have written some basic information about the final exam under Lectures -> Week 13 -> Exam Info.
I have created a poll for holding a question/answering session on Week 13 at the lecture time. The poll closes today at midnight. This session will not run if less than 10 people are planning to attend.
I have also created a section under Lectures -> Week 13 for placing all the info about the exam there. Please post your questions there.

Dear All,
This week's lecture will involve some paper reading (resources on the course website). You are encouraged to look at the material beforehand. However, we will set some time during the lecture for reading and discussions, along with some guidance and explanatory slides.

We will use Tensorflow and GPflow in this week's practical part of the tutorial. The notebook gives you some instructions on installing Tensorflow and GPflow. Please try to solve any technical issues before the tutorial takes place. it is likely that issues specific to your system may have been solved already so a quick Google search should be the first thing to try. If you do have any unsolved issues, your tutor may be able to assist you during the tutorial.
Question 2 in Quiz 3 has been updated. Please make sure you work on the latest version (Friday 29th September, 2017 at 06:50). Thanks to Omar Ghattas for pointing out the original typo.

If you have any pressing question regarding the assignment or related material, please post it to the class forum and I will try to answer as soon as possible.

It seems that the link in Moodle to lecture recordings is now working. Unfortunately, because of issues with HDMI and Mac, there is only audio available for the first lecture. Video will be available from the second lecture.

Edwin
Dear All,
(1) Please use the Front Page Forum for all issues regarding the course (i.e. avoid using all the other forums and also avoid emailing me).
(2) A link to lecture recordings is now available on the course website (on the menu as Course Work -> Lecture Videos). However, it seems that there was an issue with the video (audio seems OK) for the first lecture and IT is looking into it.
Cheers,
Edwin
Welcome to COMP9418, Advanced Topics in Statistical Machine Learning. This is a new course being offered for the first time in 17s2. It aims to provide an in-depth study of statistical machine learning approaches, with a focus on methods for learning and inference in structured probabilistic models.
We'll be using WebCMS3 as the platform for content management in our course and a skeleton Course Website is already in place. The Course Outline has more detail on what's in the course and how it will run.
I look forward to seeing you on Wednesday 26th July at 12:00 at OMB 230.
