Hi everyone,
Just a reminder that tomorrow (Aug 1) is the last official consultation session with your tutors. However, if you would like to have more consultations before submitting the final report on Aug 10, you can continue asking questions in Teams or organise more meetings with your tutors.
Hi everyone,
On Tuesday, we will have the presentations, 20 minutes (or less) each group. We'll start from 2:05pm and follow the reverse order this time, i.e., starting from Group VQA and then Group Automation will be the last group to present.
Hi everyone,
Weeks 8 and 9 will be similar to last week and we'll have the project check-in and short lecture on Monday and tutor consultations on Tuesday (or other days). Please make sure that you attend both sessions to update on your project progress and then we can provide some feedback.
Also, specifications for Assignments 3 and 4 have been uploaded here and we can go through them tomorrow.
Hi everyone,
Great work on your presentations!
Week 6 is flexibility week so there's no official lecture/consultation session. However, if you would like to catch up with your tutors, please organise a time with them.
Marks for assignments 1 and 2 will be released early next week too.
Hi everyone,
Just a reminder that Monday in Week 5 will be project consultations with your tutors and Tuesday will be the presentations (hybrid in CLB5):
Group Automation: 2-2:20pm
Group Frog Fog: 2:20-2:40pm
Group Innovators: 2:40-3pm
Group Sudoku: 3-3:20pm
Group VQA: 3:20-3:40pm
Please upload your presentation slides to "Files" in your group channel in Teams before 2pm on Tuesday.
I'll also post some initial feedback about your proposals in your group channels by this weekend, so that you can try and incorporate the feedback for your presentations.
With the public holiday today, I have recorded two lectures that would otherwise have been delivered today. The first is on Knowledge Representation and the second on Reasoning. The lectures slides are now available and the lecture recordings can be found on Echo360 via the Moodle page for this course.
Hi everyone,
Specifications for the first two assignments are now available under the "Assessments" tab. I'll go through them during the lecture on Tuesday next week.
We'll have the Tuesday lecture hybrid in CLB5. The lecture for Monday (public holiday) will be recorded and uploaded to Echo360. I'll post a message when it's uploaded.
Please be reminded to form project groups by this week and enter your group names into the survey form .
Hi everyone,
As suggested by some of you during the lecture today, tomorrow you are welcome to go into the lecture theatre (CLB5) and meet each other, which would be helpful for forming project groups. I'll still be doing the lecture online, but you can join the lecture on your laptop, or some of you might help with setting up the projector. Thanks a lot to those who are helping out!
Hi everyone,
In Week 2, we will still have the lectures entirely online. The meeting links are available in the Teams group. I'll upload the lecture slides here latest by Monday morning.
I hope you are already forming groups. If you haven't completed the survey form , please do so. Also, keep an eye on the Discussion channel in the Teams group, which has some messages regarding project topics. I'll try to keep the last 15 minutes free during the lecture time, which you can use for some discussion among yourselves.
See you next week.
Hello everyone,
Unfortunately, I've got Covid ... so that means lectures for Week 1 (and possibly Week 2) will be entirely online through Teams. The meeting links for Week 1 are available in the "COMP9491 2022T2" Teams group, which you should have access to. The links are also here:
Lectures slides are now available under "Lectures" here in WebCMS3.
Maurice and I do hope to see you in-person soon for project discussion in the following weeks!

Hello everyone,
Welcome to the course COMP9491: Applied AI.
In this term, we expect to have more in-person interactions. Lectures will be delivered in CLB5, with hybrid support. Project discussion and consultations will be conducted during lecture hours in CLB5 in a hybrid mode as well. Please read through the Course Outline and we will provide more detailed introduction on Monday.
We will use WebCMS3 as the main platform and MS Teams for more interactive discussion for the projects. You will soon be invited to an MS Teams group, which will also be used to create channels for individual groups. Lecture recordings will be accessible via Echo360.
We hope you will have a great learning experience. If you have any feedback about the course, please feel free to let us know anytime throughout the term (email: cs9491@cse.unsw.edu.au).
Looking forward to meeting you all next week.
