Hi Everyone,
Final grades for Demo, Report, Software Quality, and Peers marks are now available on WebCMS3 from your grades page.
Hope you've enjoyed this course, and best wishes on your next journey.
For any queries, please do contact your mentor directly.
Hi Everyone,
Thank you and congratulations on making it to the conclusion of the course. It's been a pleasure watching so many great projects develop. Stay safe, and I wish you all the best on your next journey.
We'll post an announcement here once remaining final results are available.
If you would take a moment to fill in a myExperience survey for the course it would be much appreciated.
The survey can be accessed either through the myExperience survey link on the moodle course website; or using your <zid>@ad.unsw.edu.au email address credentials (where your zid replaces <zid>) to log in here: https://myexperience.unsw.edu.au/
Hi Everyone,
A few reminders for COMP3900/9900:
- Remember that your software quality & report submissions are due today at 23:59. Note that the instructions on how to submit these can be accessed from the Assessments Page (under Course Work > Assessments on the course WebCMS site).
- We will have a final wrap-up lecture, available on echo360 at 1pm this Wednesday, which you can access by clicking on Lectures from the course moodle site (slides also available from then on the course WebCMS site (under Course Work > Lectures - click on Download for the lecture)).
- The peers evaluation to be submitted by each student individually is due this Friday at 23:59, with details for submitting this also accessible from the Assessments page and further detailed in the assessment guidelines (under Course Work > Assessments on the course WebCMS site).
Hi Everyone,
Below are some reminders/notices that you might find useful:
• If you're looking for submission instructions for remaining assessments - you'll find these on WebCMS under Course Work > Assessments.
• You don't need to submit anything on WebCMS for the final demonstration/presentation - this should just be a live demonstration/presentation that takes place in your online lab next week.
• Please do make sure you're at your online lab session for the demonstration/presentation next week (you can't get the marks for a demonstration/presentation if you're not there for it). Please also make sure that each team member has a turn at speaking during this demonstration/presentation.
• If your team's software quality submission exceeds 100MB in size, there is an alternative submission method you should use (this is detailed in the software quality section of the assessment guidelines).
Hi Everyone,
Hope you are all safe and well.
Please note that the final demonstration/presentation in Week 10 will differ from the progressive demos - do be sure to take a look at the assessment guidelines for this (found on the course WebCMS site by navigating to Course Work > Assessments > Assessment Guidelines (pages 12-13)).
This final demonstration/presentation should follow these guidelines and be using your submitted final system. (The final system is to be submitted as part of the software quality assessment).
Hi Everyone,
A reminder that this week, (week 6), is flexibility week. There are no scheduled labs for comp3900/9900 during this week.
Hi Everyone,
A friendly reminder that your first progressive demo (A) takes place next week.
Note that you'll need to be present at such demos otherwise you cannot receive marks for these.
For your retrospective, do try to conduct your retrospective meeting as soon as is possible after the demo.
You need to be present at your retrospective meetings to receive a mark for the retrospectives.
Please do make sure that you familiarise yourself with the assessment guidelines for the progressive demo and retrospective, and remember to submit your retrospective report as detailed in these guidelines. (see WebCMS Course Website > Assessments > Assessment Guidelines).
Dear Capstone Project Students,
Please note that the lecture for week 3 is available now (earlier) on echo360 (through Moodle), with slides also available on the Lectures page of the course WebCMS site.
Hi Everyone,
Some relevant notices for this course:
(a) If you have not joined your project group on WebCMS yet, please do this ASAP. If you do not have a project group yet, please contact your mentor (tutor) ASAP. Their contact details can be found on your lab's team formation forum page.
(b) If you haven't done so already, please sign-up to GitHub Classroom as per the earlier WebCMS notice today.
(c) On usage of third party functionality for your project, (eg: email APIs, you can use APIs referenced on project specs), please ensure you reference, and describe these as per the assessment guidelines. Note: the core domain model & functionality specific to your project should be developed by your team.
Hi Everyone,
Please follow the instructions given on
this page
to join GitHub Classroom.
(under Course Work > Joining GitHub Classroom, on the course WebCMS site).
Dear Capstone Project Students,
Well done on getting through to the first Friday of term 3.
It's early days, but for anyone needing clarification on whether the final complete system your team develops will need to be able to be built/compiled (if language used supports this), configured, setup, run, be usable and work on the CSE machines:
The answer is yes, we should be able to do all these things on the CSE machines from scratch, through the vlabs interface (https://vlabgateway.cse.unsw.edu.au/).
Good afternoon everyone,
The introductory lecture for this course is now available, and can be accessed by clicking on "Lectures" from the course Moodle website.
Slides are also available for lecture 1, (and will also be available for future lectures), under Course Work > Lectures, on the course WebCMS site (click on Download for the lecture needed).
Lectures will be posted and be available in Weeks 1, 2, 3, and 10 from 1pm.
Good morning capstone project students,
Welcome to Week 1 of the course.
A few announcements for this week:
(1) Lectures and labs will begin from Week 1, according to your timetable.
(2) You will be able to access both lectures and labs from the course Moodle website. Lectures will be delivered over echo360, and labs over Blackboard Collaborate Ultra, and both are linked from the course Moodle website.
(3) For labs, please do ensure that you connect to your enrolled lab. To do this, click on "Labs" from the course Moodle website, and then navigate to the lab that is prefixed with your course code and lab code.
eg: if your course is "COMP9900" and your lab code is "H14A", then the link for your specific lab will include the prefix "COMP9900 H14A".
(4) You should only join project groups within your enrolled lab, and not be attempting to join groups from a different lab.
Hi Everyone,
It's good to see that people have already started to find group members for the project.
To help with group formation, once you've found some group members in your enrolled lab, please do coordinate with those members to use the "+ Create" button on the WebCMS "Groups" page to create a group, and then register current members within the created group (group members can click "+Join" on the created group).
For the group name, please ensure you include your course code and enrolled lab code as a prefix. eg: if your course is "COMP9900" and your lab code is "H14A", and you called your group "Magicode", then your full group name on WebCMS would be:
COMP9900-H14A-Magicode
If you've already created your group on WebCMS, please do update the name to include a prefix as mentioned above.
This should help you keep track of group members, and others to see what groups have already started forming in their lab.
If you don't know your enrolled lab code, you can look this up on the "Timetable" page, which can be accessed from the left hand side menu on WebCMS. The value in the "Name" column, (on the row for your particular lab day/time & course code), is your lab code.
Dear capstone project students,
Welcome to COMP3900/9900!
If you haven't done so already, please check your Moodle messages on the moodle site for this course.
You'll be able to access these by clicking on the small speech bubble on the top-right of the moodle course website.
