  • Important information about exam, consultation etc

    Dear students,

    Consultation today runs between 2:00 - 4:00 and will be held in Room L5, W301.

    Final Exam:

    • The final exam for CP1511 will be held in the CSE labs (Sitar, Kora, Bugle, Horn) located on Level 3, J17 (Mechanical Engineering Ainsworth Building).
    • You can find your allocated lab for the final exam in 19T2 Final Exam Allocation . Kindly note your allocated lab and your attendance will be marked off by the invigilator.
    • Final Exam will commence at 10:00 am. Please arrive by 9:40 am. Those who arrive late will not be permitted to enter the exam.
    • Please make sure you bring your student ID card to the exam.
    • No calculators or electronic devices allowed (including watches). You will be provided with necessary working out paper.

    Class Mark:

    • Your class mark for CP1511 (lab mark + practice test mark + ass1 + ass2) is now available for viewing.
    • With assignment 2, there were two autotests that was related to functionality that you were not required to implement. So, anyone who attempted assignment 2, would have received an additional 0.1 mark towards their assignment 2 mark.
    • If you think any marks have missed (e.g. lab marks) or if you have any queries, please see us at the consultation today or immediately after the final exam tomorrow.

  • Change of consultation times

    As students have a physics exam on Monday, 12th of August in the morning, please note the revised timings below for the consultations.

    • Wednesday, 7th Aug, 11:00 am - 1:00 pm
    • Thursday, 8th Aug, 12:00 - 1:00 pm
    • Monday, 12th Aug, 3:00 - 4:00 pm.

    ( All sessions will be held at L5-W301).

  • Exam Preparation

    Dear all,

    There are two consultations scheduled to help students in preparing for the exam.

    • Wednesday,7th Aug, 11:00 am
    • Monday, 12 Aug, 11:00 am.

    Also, note solutions to the practice exam held in week 12 have been uploaded. There are also several revision exercises uploaded to week 13 folder.


  • Extension of assignment 2 submission to Sunday, 4 Aug 2019

    Dear all,

    Due to continued requests from students, I have now extended the submission deadline to Sunday 4 August, 23:59 . Any submissions after this will incur a late penalty of 3% per hour.

    If you have already submitted, you can resubmit. Only the latest submission will be marked.

  • Extended consultation tonight, change of room and Extension to assignment

    • please note that consultation today will run from 4:00 - 6:00 pm in Room LG16 (and not our usual 301).
    • and dead-line for assignment 2 is extended to Saturday 11:59 pm.

  • Week 12 Updates

    • The Monday tutorial 2-3 (CP1-5) will run on Tuesday between 9-10 am in Room K-G6-108 (same room).
    • Next week, in your regular Lab A session, you will do a "practice" final exam, which will be 1.5 hours (final exam is 3 hrs). This will be marked and you will receive a grade as normal labs, depending on how many questions you attempt. This will be the last week for your labs and tutorials.

  • Important updates to assignment 2

    1. There have been changes made to some of the files provided to you for assigment 2. Please download the latest version of all relevant files for the assignment. ( ass2.zip contains the updated files).
    2. The reference implementation has also been updated, and can be run as: ~dp1091/bin/reference_implementation.
    3. Instructions related to testing have been uploaded to webcms3 under the assignments folder. Autotests are available and can be run as: ~dp1091/bin/autotest ass2
    4. We will go through stages 2-4 in the lectures this week.
    5. If you have any questions, please post them in the webcms3 forum or ask your tutors in the labs/consultation.

  • Important Updates

    Assignment 1 has been extended and is now due on Sunday 7 of July at 23:59. The extension also implies that we will now carry more stringent check of style (appropriate use of constants, functions, good use of variables, clarity and readability of code and comments).

    The blog required for exercise 1 will be a short summary of your journey through this assignment, major hurdles encountered and how you resolved it.

    Next week, you will have your third practical exam in Lab session. Topics tested are characters. Week 7, Lab B has a few practice questions, to help you prepare for this practical exam.

  • Change of consultation times for Tuesday

  • Reminder - second practical exam this week

    This week, you will have your second practical exam in your lab B session.

    Please arrive on time. The exam will commence exactly at 5 past the hour, for 5 mins reading time + 45 mins exam time. If you arrive late, you will not be given extra time.

    Also, remember to bring your devices.

    Topics tested - Arrays and Functions.


  • Assignment 1, Practical Exam

    Dear students,

    Please note, assignment 1 has been released, and details can be found under the assignment folder. This assignment is due in on Friday, Week 8, 5th of July, 2019. We will discuss the assignment in the lecture tomorrow.

    A reminder, that you will have a practical exam in Lab B session this week.

    • Please remember to bring your device (to take the test). If you do not bring a device, you CANNOT sit the practical exam.
    • Contents examined includes everything covered until week 3, excluding functions ( in particular use of if-control statements, while loops and using scanf )
    • You will be given three exercises to complete. The best 2 out of the 3 will be taken.
    • Solutions to the practice practical exam can be found under Week 03, Lab B exercises.

  • Week 05 Updates - Public Holiday, Prac Exam

    Dear students,

    Please note, next Monday, 10th June is a public holiday. Those students in Monday 2-3 tutorial (CP-5) will have a substitute tutorial on Tuesday 11 June 9 -10 am in B116.

    Next week, you will have a practical exam in Lab B session.

    • Please remember to bring your device (to take the test). If you do not bring a device, you CANNOT sit the prac exam.
    • Contents examined includes everything covered until week 3, excluding functions.
    • You will be given three exercises to complete. The best 2 out of the 3 will be taken.
    • Solutions to the practice prac exam can be found under Week 03, Lab B exercises.


  • Weekly Consultation

    Please note, we have a consultation running each week on Thursday, 5:00 - 6:00 pm in Room W301/302. If you have difficulties completing Lab A, please make use of the consultation to get additional help.

    And this week we are running a practical exam in Lab B session. Kindly arrive on time, as we would like to start the exam 5 past the hour.
