    Dear ENGG1811 Students,

I’m the convenor for ENGG1811 for Term 1, 2021 and I’d like to welcome you to the course. There are a number of important points that I’d like to let you know.

    • ENGG1811 does not use Moodle. The course website is at https://webcms3.cse.unsw.edu.au/ENGG1811/21T1 . We recommend that you bookmark the page.
      .
    • The course outline is available on the course website.
      .
    • Please note that labs start in Week 01 . Week-01 introductory lab is now available, see "Labs" in the left panel on the class web page . We will use Blackboard Collaborate and Microsoft Teams for your lab work. The first lab will be on Blackboard Collaborate (follow instructions on this page: Online Lectures and Labs ). Except for three lab classes (Wed11B, Wed13B, Thu10A) which are f2f (face-to-face). Students and tutors in these labs attend in person in the Computer lab named Strings Lab (J17 302) on campus. In terms of returning to campus for f2f labs, you should read this guidance in full prior to returning to campus. You might also wish to refer to the Safe Return to Campus FAQ . Please visit the Course Outline and read the full welcome message which outlines the COVID-19 situation further.
      .
    • Week-01 lecture notes will be available on Monday night or Tuesday of Week-01.
      .
    • You will be learning to write computer programs in the Python programming language in ENGG1811. We will ask you to write some simple code in the lecture. We suggest that you install the software "Anaconda for Python 3.7" on your laptop before the first lecture and bring your laptop to the lectures. Instructions for installing this software can be found at the "Getting Started" link on the course website or http://www.cse.unsw.edu.au/~en1811/resources/getting-started/index.html
      .

Looking forward to the start of Term 1, 2021!
