The marks and feedback for lab06 are now available.
There have been recent reports of students making changes to their testbench code, but Vivaldi's simulator not seemingly running the new code. It has been found that unticking the "Enable incremental compilation" option in the Tools → Settings → Simulation → Advanced menu can clear this problem by forcing the simulator to recompile each time the testbench is run after it is saved. Please try this option if you experience a similar problem.
We have been moved to H13 Lawrence West 4034 for the last PASS session from 1-2pm next Tuesday.
The quiz4 results have been uploaded - you should now be able to also see your total quiz mark in the "Quizzes" field.
All late lab05 submissions have also been marked.
Please check that we have correctly recorded all your marks to date and let me know of any discrepancies. Thanks.
Marks and feedback for all but a few late submissions have been uploaded.
The last quiz is scheduled to run from 12:01 am tomorrow (Friday) until 12:01 am Saturday.
The quiz covers lecture material presented during Weeks 1 - 8.
It's late to say this: if you have specific theory problems you would like help with, an alternative to posting on the forum is to attend one of the remaining PASS sessions held in Quad 1042 on Wednesdays from 1-2 pm in Weeks 9 & 10 or in Goldstein G07 on Tuesday from 1-2 pm in Week 11.
If you have specific debugging problems that may involve looking at longish excerpts of code, then you can attend ANY lab session: Wed 5-7 & 7-9 pm, Thu 12-2 & 6-8 pm and Friday 5-7 & 7-9 pm to seek one-on-one personal assistance.
We will endeavour to answer all other questions on the forum. If there is energy left, we will try our best to answer the above types of questions as well, although that is not the main focus of our assistance on the forum.
On-time and most late lab04 submissions have been marked and feedback is available.
Quiz 3 results have also been uploaded.
Hi COMP3222 students!
We have released an update for the LLM bug-help plugin on the lab machines. You now can simply press the "LLM help" button when an error occurs - you no longer need to copy and paste in the two TCL commands ahead of time.
These instructions are being updated on the llm4hw.com website, as well as updated instructions for those students who have installed it on your own machine!
Best,
Hammond Pearce and Siyu Qiu
All but 3 late lab submissions have been marked and the feedback is available. I will contact the individuals when their marks are available.
Believe it or not, we had another systems mishap with last week's quiz. 32 students received a question about carry lookahead adders, which I had removed from the question set as we hadn't covered these in class. However, as I have now discovered, Moodle uses references to the original question sets when rolling over quizzes from year to year, and while I deleted the references to these questions form this term's quiz, Moodle uses the question set being pointed to rather than the questions themselves when generating its random question selection for each student. So, it was a meaningless deletion, and I find myself once again apologising for a stuff up that shouldn't have happened. In the interests of fairness, I have rescored all students out of 4 and scaled the resulting score up to 5 so that your quiz 2 score carries the same weight as the other quizzes. These results are recorded in SMS and can be viewed along with your other grades in the course by clicking on the bar chart icon bottom right of the COMP3222 WebCMS screen.
The on-time lab02 submissions and some late submissions have now been marked. There are about 20 late submissions still being worked on. These will be released as soon as they are available.
It seems I made an error in my explanation of the derivation of F_max on page 2 of the Lab 4 exercise sheet. Please reload the exercise and read over the explanation once more to dispel the previous erroneous statement.
Second systems stuff up in a week! Hopefully no more this year!
I have adjusted the date on Quiz 2 so that you should be able to commence after 9am this morning. The quiz will be available for 24 hours.
My apologies to anyone inconvenienced - I'm very sorry. Oliver
Submissions are once again working - apparently an overzealous git submission in another class filled the disk preventing further writes to the disk.
I have extended the on-time submission deadline until midnight tonight.
If you sent me your files by email, please resubmit them in the usual way for them to be marked. I cannot process project files that are emailed to me.
Please note that we collect on-time submissions the day after the deadline. If you resubmit sometime after we collect your submissions, any resubmissions will not be marked. To be safe, please don't resubmit after 9am on the day following a deadline.
Clearly there are problems with give at the moment. I will let you know when systems are back up and running properly and then allow time for people to submit. Hang in there!
Your lab01 submission has been marked - feedback and your result can be obtained by collecting your submission using the tab from the Lab 1 exercise sheet.
If you have questions about your score, please contact the demonstrator who marked your lab by email in the first instance. The demonstrator's email address should appear at the end of the feedback you received.
My apologies for the delay - it has been tricky with a number of new elements to deal with. We hope to improve our future turnaround times.
In response to requests for help, we are arranging for one or two PASS sessions in COMP3222/9222. These sessions will be led by Rajdeep Virdy, who completed COMP3222 last year and has since completed all follow-on courses.
The plan is to offer one session per week, excluding Week 6 but including Week 11, with two sessions made available in weeks with quizzes (Weeks 5, 7 & 9). Sessions will be held in Quad 1042 on Wednesdays from 1-2 pm in Weeks 4, 5, 7, 8, 9 & 10. Sessions will also be held in Goldstein G07 on Tuesdays from 1-2 pm in Weeks 5, 7, 9 and 11.
These sessions will focus on helping with theory questions you may have. Practical questions could and should be raised with the lab demonstrators in the Brass lab on Wednesdays 5-9 pm, Thursdays 12-2 pm and 6-8 pm and Fridays 5-9 pm.
All things going well the first PASS session will be held tomorrow from 1-2 pm in Quad 1042. I'll let you know by email if we haven't been able to manage the start this week. Please come prepared with questions you're having trouble with.
Please be advised that you have access to all general labs as well as Lyre, which together with Brass are the two labs that have the virtual machine fpga-basics installed, from 8:00am - 10pm M-F and 8:00am - 7pm on weekends.
Moodle now has a Practice Quiz set up for you to take ONCE - you only get once chance at getting a feel for the real quiz. It may be worth giving it a shot before you finish your prep for the Quiz on Friday.
Here are the instructions .
