Your exam mark (and final mark) can be viewed on WebCMS3.
If you would like to see the marked-up copy of your exam, I propose to see me in my office on Thursday, 2pm-3pm. If this time-slot does not suit you, please email me with 2-3 suggested times between Wednesday afternoon and Friday afternoon.
The 3-hour exam will be
- on Wednesday, 7 November, starting from 9:15am,
- in the Blockhouse, room G15 (K-G6-G15).
Please bring your Student ID. You may also bring a water bottle, any printed and handwritten materials, textbooks. The only allowed electronic device is a UNSW approved calculator (but will not really be needed).
You will find feedback on Assignment 5 in your Bitbucket repositories.
The next Parameterized Algorithms and Computational Experiments challenge, PACE 2019, will be about Vertex Cover and Hypertree Width (a generalization of treewidth to hypergraphs). The
PACE website
will post the exact tracks of the challenges and implementation details in November.
FYI, feedback on Assignment 4 is available in your Bitbucket repositories.
The final benchmark instances have also been added.
You should have received an email from Bitbucket inviting you to a Git repository. The email address I used is zID@unsw.edu.au. The file contributors.txt contains the members of your group. In case of access issues, please let me know.
A solution sketch for Assignment 2 has now been
posted
. You will need to log into WebCMS3 in order to access it.
I expect to release a solution sketch for assignment 2 on Friday, so that students who had trouble solving assignment 2 are not disadvantaged too much for assignment 3.
The trial mid-session quiz has been
released
.
Our mid-session quiz will start at 12:05PM next Tuesday in room BUS 232, and it will last 90 minutes.
It is open-book but no electronics are allowed, except for a UNSW approved calculator (which you will not need). In particular, feel free to bring printed lecture notes, your solutions to exercises and assignments, and your answers to the trial mid-session quiz. Books are also allowed.
The mid-session quiz will have the same format as the trial mid-session quiz, but some questions will be different.
By student request, there will be a consultation at 2pm tomorrow in my office K17_506.
Assignment 1 has now been posted. It is due on 12 Aug at 23:59 AEST.
Lecture recordings are available
here
.
Note that we had some technical difficulties during the first hour of the first lecture and that the slides could not be displayed. Please use the slide deck (available under "Slides") to follow the first hour of the first lecture.
Welcome to COMP6741 on parameterized algorithms!
Note that there is no lecture in Week 1. We have lectures in the building of the Business school (BUS 232, Tue 12-2pm) and the Old Main Building (OMB G31, Wed 4-6pm) in weeks 2-8 and 10-11.
The course website is https://webcms3.cse.unsw.edu.au/COMP6741/18s2/ and it includes the course outline. The use of WebCMS3 forums is encouraged for any questions, feedback, and discussions related to the course. But feel free to contact me in other ways (in person, email, via a representative, etc.), especially if privacy is a concern.
See you on 31 July in BUS 232!
