Dear COMP9020 Student,
I want to conclude this course by thanking you all for your feedback through myExperience. I was very happy with a response rate of over 75% and the fact that (almost) everyone who filled in the form was satisfied with the course. The warming-up exercises in particular were very positively commented on, so I will definitely keep them.
You also had many thoughtful further suggestions. Let me just mention those that were made by several of you independently:
So, thanks again for your diversified, enthusiastic and thoughtful feedback. And good luck to all of you with your T2 courses that are about to begin.
Michael
I have been notified that there is a small error on the scoresheets for Question 12: Part a) and Part c) have been weighed wrongly. As a consequence, unfortunately, for some students the Exam Total shows a wrong result (up to +/- 1 mark difference).
This will be fixed. Meanwhile do note that your mark and grade as shown on WebCMS are correct.
Your results are now available on WebCMS3 or from your CSE account using
9020 classrun -sturec
To pass the course, your Exam mark must be ≥25 and the Sum must be ≥50.
You can obtain detailed feedback on your marks for the exam on WebCMS3 by clicking on the little arrow in the row labelled Exam as indicated below:
or by using:
9020 classrun -collect Exam
Unfortunately I cannot reopen the Moodle exam for review since variations of these questions may be reused in another form in future exams. But if you did not pass the course and have further questions about your marks then you can email me personally.
In case you are interested here is the overall statistics for 21T1 COMP9020:
HD 14.5%
DN 28.0%
CR 30.6%
PS 18.3%
FL 8.6%
Congratulations to the following students for scoring 95 or higher:
Laurence Yik Lok Leung
Enhao Zheng
Jason Liu
Well done!
Enjoy your term break, stay healthy and best of luck with your future studies.
Michael
A few students have unintentionally re-attempted the quiz after submitting it, presumably to check if the answers have been properly recorded.
You do not have to worry about having lost any of your answers. Everyone's first attempt has been saved and this is what will be marked.
Some of you reported an issue with Question 1 not displaying correctly. If that was the case for you, please go back to Q1 and refresh the screen.
Dear COMP9020 Student,
This is a reminder that your exam will commence in less than 2 hours. You should be able to see the exam on your Moodle page for our course, or access the exam directly through this link: moodle.telt.unsw.edu.au/mod/quiz/view.php?id=3812236 (login credentials required).
Please note that all answers to the open questions must be typed into the answer box. There will be no questions that require formulas with complex notation, and questions come with a hint on how you can name operators, if necessary. The exam questions have been designed in such a way that there is definitely enough time to type in all the answers.
Best of luck,
Michael
Our final exam has been timetabled for Monday afternoon on May, 10th . I have been given some flexibility as to the exact start time. I'd like to try and find the best time for all students in this course. For this reason I have set up a quick poll to find out which timezone(s) everyone will be in on the day of the exam. You can access the poll here:
Please let me know the timezone that you expect to be in on May, 10th, by ticking the corresponding box. The poll will close on Tuesday, 13 April, at 10:00am.
Your result in the mid-term test is now available on WebCMS. You can see your overall mark by clicking on the symbol indicated below:
We have also prepared individual electronic feedback with your detailed marks on WebCMS, which you can access from your result page by clicking on the little arrow indicated below:
Also, on Moodle you can now review your multiple choice answers and also find sample solutions to the two open questions. Please do note that Moodle does not show your marks for the open questions; you can find these on your scoresheet on WebCMS as indicated above.
Please continue to respect UNSW's policy to not copy, record, photograph or translate any of the questions of the test. You can email me if you wish to further discuss your marks with me.
Congratulations especially to the 8 students who scored 95% or higher, well done!
Just a gentle reminder that the mid-term test will begin in about 1 hour.
Log onto Moodle to access the test: https://moodle.telt.unsw.edu.au/mod/quiz/view.php?...
The test will automatically close 60 minutes after you have started it, or at 1:35pm Sydney time, whichever comes first.
Best of luck everyone,
Michael
Dear COMP9020 Student,
Welcome to this year's course.
This is a reminder that the course will begin in week 1 on Tuesday (February 16) from 12-2pm.
Meanwhile, have a look at the course webpage
webcms3.cse.unsw.edu.au/COMP9020/21T1/
. Read through the "Course Outline" to learn more about the contents of the course, the assessment and recommended textbook.
As part of the safe return to campus programme, you will have the opportunity to attend some of the classes in person face-to-face. To comply with the safety guidelines, limited seats will be available and you will need to book your seat in advance. Details can be found on the course webpage webcms3.cse.unsw.edu.au/COMP9020/21T1/ under the menu item "Classes."
Please note: All of the course can be completed online, and you will not be disadvantaged if you cannot, or prefer not to, come to campus. All the lectures will be recorded, all the course material will be posted on the course webpage, consultations will be available online, and all the assessments, including the final exam, will be online, too.
See you next week,
Michael
