Welcome to COMP9321 - Data Services Engineering.

I’m Haibo Zhang, and I’ll be your lecturer. In this course, we will work together to explore topics including data manipulation, service development, data analytics, and much more.

Lectures will be delivered in a hybrid format. Students in the in-person stream can attend lectures in OShane 105 . Students in the online stream can join the lectures via the Teams link shared in Ed Stream. All students have been adding in Ed, but in case you are not yet there please join via the link ( https://edstem.org/au/join/XvrvrQ )

Students in the online stream are also welcome to attend in person if seats are available, as attending in person generally provides a more interactive and engaging learning experience.

All lectures will be automatically recorded using Echo360, and you should be able to access lecture recordings via Moodle some hours after the lecture.

The first lecture next Monday at 14:00 will provide an overview of the course, including its organisation, teaching team, assessments, and other important information. Please make every effort to attend it, as this lecture will help you prepare effectively for the course.

Dear All,

Welcome to COMP9321 (Data Services Engineering).

For the offering of 2026T3 please be advised for the following:

• We have lab activities and walkthroughs that we will share the details in WebCMS and during the lecture.
• We will also have consultation labs, that we will run everyday of the week starting week2. The intention is to provide additional support for the lab activates and the assignments. The schedule of the consultation labs will be made available in WebCMS. We are also using MS Teams for the consultation labs.
• You can request to join the course in MS Teams, using the link: Teams | COMP9321 2026T3 Data Services Engineering
• We will be using Ed Stream as our Q&A Forum. All students have been adding in Ed, but in case you are not yet there please join via the link ( https://edstem.org/au/join/XvrvrQ ). You MUST be in ED, in order to be able to follow-up on important discussions and assignment specification details.
• We will be using WebCMS for Assignments Submission (GIVE), Lab Activities, Quizzes; for other activities ED (Assignment Spec, Notifications, Discussions) will be our main channel.
• Final exam is on campus in person.
