Following many requests, we extended the project team contribution review in Moodle until Sunday 5 December 23:55 Sydney time. This is the final deadline for those who want to make the review, as we need to finalise all project report marking soon.
To clarify, the primary source of the team member contributions is the statement included in the project report. The entry in Moodle is optional and is provided in case some team members may want to make an additional review of their project team.
Dear Students,
The function of checking the similarity of the exam report on Turnitin work properly now.
Please try to check again. Thanks.
Good luck for your exam.

Dear Students,
Just to confirm the messages in the Moodle Forum:
The 24-hour exam period will be from 30 November 2021 8:00AM - 1 December 2021 8:00AM.
The exam itself should not be more than about 3 hours of work, which you can complete and submit anytime in the above period.
Best wishes,
Erik
Dear Students,
Sample exam materials are now available under WebCMS3 > COMP9517 > Assessments > Exam.
The materials include a sample exam paper, three examples of scientific papers with corresponding commentaries that received high marks in previous terms, and templates in various formats.
This should give you a good idea of what to expect in the exam on 30 November 2021.
If you have any general questions, please post them in the Moodle Forum so other students may benefit from the answers too.
Good luck with the final exam preparations!
Cheers,
Erik
Dear Students,
As we managed to schedule all group project demos in the Week 10 Thursday 6-8pm lecture/consultation time slot, we decided to use the Week 10 Tuesday 6-8pm time slot for some guest lectures. These are all pre-recorded talks and can be found on Echo360, so you can watch them at any time that suits you.
Specifically, there is a 1-hour talk from the UNSW EPICentre on applied hybrid analytics and computer vision applications for research and industry , and then three short talks from the 2020 IEEE International Symposium on Biomedical Imaging , given by various members in our group at UNSW CSE.
We hope you will find these extra talks inspiring as they showcase a wide range of computer vision methods.
And we wish you all the best with the group project demos and Q&A on Thursday!
COMP9517 Team
Assignment marks have been released and accessible in Moodle->Assignment submission
Dear Students, the Week 9 Thursday lecture will be about advanced deep learning methods and applications , and will be given by our own Yanming Zhu. Last Thursday there were some issues with her audio connection, so this time we decided to pre-record the lecture. Thus there will be NO livestream today but you can find the lecture on Echo360. The lecture link in Moodle should take you there directly. Cheers, Erik

Please check the group you belong to again from WebCMS3 > Groups (or WebCMS3 > Assessment > Project > Project Groups_updated v1) and contact your group members. If you have any questions, please let me know as soon as possible.
Thanks.

Lab 1 marks have been released. You can view the results in Moodle under Lab 1 submission
Dear students,
We had a number of enquiries about the submission deadline time. In the specifications, the deadline in 23:59, however in Moodle the deadline is 23:55. The reason for this difference is that some Moodle settings allow to only specify the time with 5 minutes precision. If you submit between 23:55 and 23:59, and there is a late submission notice in Moodle, please ignore it. There will be no penalty for late submission in this case .
The Moodle submission links for the report document and source code of Assignment is now open.
DEADLINE : Wednesday 6 October 23:59 Sydney time.
FORMAT : .2 files: 1) report document in PDF file, 2) source code in zip file which include both the code and images. (Please use this file format and not the one given in the assignment spec)
The report and the source code will be submitted using Moodle. The Moodle course website has the submission section as shown here:
The first link is to submit the report only, and the second link is only for the code submission in the zip file.
If you have any issues uploading the files, post it on the Moodle forum or send an email to cs9517@cse.unsw.edu.au
The Lab 3 specification is now available under WebCMS3 > COMP9517 > Course Work > Assessments > Lab 3. Deadline for submission is Week 5, Wednesday 13 October 2021, 23:59:59.
Hi Class, sorry for going a little bit over time in the Pattern Recognition Part 1 lecture, as a result of which the session and recording were abruptly terminated. We'll continue on Thursday where we were cut off today, so you won't miss a thing. See you later this week. Cheers, Erik
