This is a short guide that highlights all of the tools & setup you need to be familiar with to settle into DPST1093!

1. Coding Environment

For DPST1093, all you need is the program NodeJS, the program Git , and VSCode . How you these setup will depend on which kind of environment you try and setup. You can choose one below:

If you like using VLAB - it might be better to connect to it locally via VSCode rather than using TigerVNC. I recommend following this guide to setup your VSCode to connect to vlab directly: https://abiram.me/cse-setup

2. Course Work

3. Communication

There are three main communication platforms that are used in this course, and they can all be used without downloading any native applications:

  • Microsoft Teams
    • This is used for running online tutorials and labs.
    • This is the course forum where you can ask questions
    • This is used for (online) help sessions.
    • This is used for communicating with your other group members for the major project .
    • You can connect to Microsoft teams by going here . Every UNSW College student can log into Microsoft teams using their zID/zPassword
