As of 8:50pm today, I have made the last group upload from WebCMS 3. If you have been unable to submit because of group issues, these should now be resolved. You will not be penalised ... this time.
For the hundred-odd students who have created or joined groups in the last week or so, and especially for the thirty or so students who created groups in the last day, be aware that this is not acceptable. You were given clear instructions and have had over three weeks to create groups; leaving it to the last minute demonstrates that, disappointingly, you have not taken responsibility for your learning. In future courses, this will not be taken kindly.
In case earlier you received error " group undefined " while submitting Ass2, try again, it should work now. If not, let me know, thanks.
In the last lecture today, we will first briefly discuss Randomised algorithms (extracurricular material - not in exam!) and later talk about the Course Review and Final exam .
Pre-Exam Consultation will be at 12noon on Thursday 02 May in Room 403 K17 Building, say from 12 to 12:45pm, if required it will be extended.
COMP2521 Final Exam Time/Seat allocations are now available at the following site, you need to login using your zId and zPass.
There are two exam time slots: Morning (09:15-12:30) and Afternoon (12:20-16:10). Select one of the time slots or if you are available for both, select either is fine.
Students with another exam on the same day are pre-allocated to the time slot that will not clash. Students with special provision are also pre-allocated to a time slot.
This form closes end of Week 10 . Seating allocations (location) will be released in Week 11.
Email meicheng@cse.unsw.edu.au if you have further queries.
You need to login using your zId and zPass.

Week-10 Tut and Lab are now available, including " Sample Final Exam " and few practice questions of Trees and Graph ADTs.
Public Holidays (on Monday 22/April and Thursday 25/April): If your lab is on Monday or Thursday, your week-10 lab is rescheduled at the alternative time and location d uring week-11 . Please check your time table for week-11 in myUNSW account. Again, please note that your lab in week-11 may be at different location and at different time, so please check your timetable.
Please read Ass2 Change Log .
The COMP2521 Final Exam runs in two sessions on the same day, Morning and Afternoon. There will be an online form for you to choose the exam session in the coming week .
If you have another exam on the same day , you will be preallocated the session that will not clash with COMP2521 final exam. Exact times will be available on the form. After we have collected your preferred session, we will release the seat location.
You can check your marks for your midterm exam by clicking on the graph icon (see below) in the bottom left corner on the class web page . You need to login first to see the graph icon. We have also auto-marked your assignment-1, soon your tutors will also finish marking assignment-1, and you will be able to see assignment-1 marks too.
In case you have any queries, please contact your tutor.
Yesterday we discussed "How to Get Started for Ass2" in the lecture (Monday 08 April), in case you missed the lecture, please watch the video. It may answer many of your queries regarding Ass2.
Assignment 2 is to be done as a group of two within your tutorial/laboratory class. To allow us to keep track of these groups, and to allow either member of the group to submit, you need to create a group on WebCMS 3.
To create a group, go to Groups in the sidebar, and choose Create Group . Make sure the group type is "Assignment 2". Make sure the group is set to private. Once the group has been created, edit the group, and add other members.
You also should set up some form of source code collaboration. We strongly suggest CSE Gitlab , but you can use any other platform that all the group members are comfortable with. Make sure this collaboration mechanism is private; accidentally making your group's source code public is likely to land you in plagiarism-related hot water.
If you don't have a group, see if there is anyone in your tutorial that you can create a group with, or get in touch with your tutor. If you're in a group of three that hasn't yet been ok'd by your tutor, you should either get in touch with your tutor, or form a group of two.
Assignment-2 (Social Network Analysis) is now available, see Assignments in the left panel. Yesterday in the lecture we introduced Assignment-2, in case you missed the lecture, please watch the lecture video. Today in the lecture we will discuss how to get started for Part-1 and 2. Next week, we will discuss how to get started for Part-3 and 4.
Additional Help Sessions are now available, one Help Session every day, plus multiple on Thursday and Friday!
.
Sample Midterm is now available, see the weblink in the left column on the class webpage. Your midterm exam will be during your week-06 lab time.
Assignment-1 is now available, see Assignments in the left panel. Please read the specifications and all the supporting files provided for the assignment. We will discuss in detail " How to Get Started " for the Assignment-1 during our next lecture on Monday.
From this week, we are running Help Sessions . These are face-to-face consultations for you to ask the tutors questions. They are not compulsory but use them to prepare your labs or for additional help outside the scope of your lab e.g. setting up your laptop for home computing. More help sessions will be added later in the session.
For time and location of the Help Sessions , go to the course website and click on the menu item "Help Sessions".
