  • Group Project Progress Check (Due Friday, 7 August 2026)

    Dear all,

The group project is due Friday 7 August 2026 — about two weeks from now. If your group has not started yet, please start as early as possible. Training and evaluating models, recording a 10-minute video with every member presenting, and writing the report do not compress well into a couple of days.

Please also read the Project Specification carefully and make sure your report covers all the required content. You do not want to lose marks simply because something was not reported, even though you did the work. :)

Please contact your group members and contribute to the project meaningfully if you have not already. Agree early on who does what, and remember that all members are expected contribute to the methods, code, and experiments, not only to the video or report.
Check and manage your project progress (of all members) regularly to ensure that planned tasks are completed on schedule. If any delays or issues arise, identify them early and adjust your plan or adopt alternative plans as soon as possible, for obtaining expected marks.

If you cannot reach a group member, please keep a record of your attempts to contact them and of their lack of response. (Optional) More generally, it is useful to keep work logs as part of your working notes, or some other record of contributions. For example, Git logs can be a good record if you use Git (GitHub or any similar service) to manage and collaborate on your project.

As mentioned in the Project Specification, you will have the opportunity to submit a survey on the peer-evaluated contributions after the due date, together with the records above if needed. Submitting it is optional — do so if there is something you would like us to take into account. We will consider the critical information when determining the marking, and the Course Admin and I will handle the process accordingly.

There is still enough time to do this well — it is a genuinely interesting problem, and the process of working through it is worth experiencing. I hope you enjoy it.

    Good luck!

    Best,
    Dong
