Our role is to demonstrate COVIDsafe behaviour, and to encourage students to follow COVID-safety rules. While you should let students know if they’re being COVIDsafe, you should not attempt to enforce rules – if a student refuses your requests, you do not need to enforce them (but you should contact your course admin, and Andrew Taylor , to let them know).

You should also demonstrate COVIDsafe practices yourself – setting an example will go a long way to ensuring students are COVIDsafe. This applies even outside of your tutorials, as you can be a role-model to other students even when not tutoring.

If you don’t have a mask, you can get a UNSW one from the Head of School office (though you don’t have to use a UNSW one if you have your own).

If you are unwell, DO NOT COME TO CAMPUS. There will never be any penalty for being sick on the morning of a class. Find a replacement, or swap with any other tutors in your course, or run the tutorial online (or direct students to other tutorials online). If lost tutoring money is an issue, contact Andrew and your course admin. This instruction includes if you test negative for COVID, but still feel sick.

If a student is unwell, encourage them to take the tutorial online. In the (extremely) unlikely event a student reports that they have tested positive for COVID-19, report that up the chain (to Andrew, Mei Cheng, your Course Admin and Lecturer at the least) as soon as possible.

Before teaching, you must complete the Safe Return to Campus Training .

Procedures

10mins before the tut/lab:

  • Go to K17 G02, and use the code “7802” to unlock the door. Take one red UNSW bag to your tutorial – it contains hand sanitizer and cleaning materials.

At the start of your tut:

  • Ensure you sanitize your hands.
  • Remind students to socially distance (preferably one seat between each student).
  • If your room has a QR code, ask students to use them.
  • Offer students the cleaning materials if they want to use them.
  • Students do not need masks in tutorials, unless they cannot maintain social distance (i.e. they’re in groups).
  • You do not need a mask in tutorials unless you cannot maintain social distance (i.e. you’re leaning over students work).
  • You can keep a roll – while it’s not required, it is useful as an extra precaution.

When moving between rooms:

  • keep students socially distanced (avoid congregating at entrances).

At the start of your lab:

  • Ensure you sanitize your hands.
  • Students cannot tap into labs – you or your assistant will need to.
  • You should ask all students to tap their student card on the ID reader, and to check in with the QR code.
  • Ensure students maintain social distance.
  • In labs, everyone should wear a mask.
  • Offer students wipes at the start of the lesson, but ask them to wipe their workstations before they leave.

After your lab:

  • Report any incidents or safety concerns to Mei Cheng .
  • Return the Red UNSW Bag to K17 G02.

If you have any questions, ask Mei Cheng .
